I don't remember wanting Rivers, but I do remember wanting Brees. And I DEFINITELY remember how the Rodgers selection felt like something special was going down.

Okay, so who's going to own up to having wanted Grossman? That's what I'm waiting for. Any takers?

Seriously, I feel a lot like Nonstopdrivel. I had been getting weary of Favre for several years, so that when he retired, I felt relieved. I think a lot of people in the organization felt the same way. I hated the annual statements about retirement, and I thought his competitive drive was beginning to waver--which is only natural at that age.

I just heard a clip from Favre's press conference on the radio, and he was telling how he had asked his ten-year-old daughter whether or not he should keep playing. I thought that was pathetic. That's a pretty heavy question to put on your ten-year-old kid. I don't have kids, but I was a kid, and I can't imagine my dad asking me a question like that.

I agree with most of what you say zero, expect that it does involve the jersey.

We all know Ted Thompson didn't want him to go to MN (3 1st round pick stipulation in contract), and it's sacrelig. as a packer to go there. He claims he likes being on a super bowl contender, likes an easy to learn system, etc...well after playing on a good NYJ team for a year, don't those conditions apply? Why not stick with the Jets?

Instead he asks to be released by the Jets which ultimately results in him joining the one team that would most upset the Packers, TT, and the fans. Coincidence?

No.....he wanted all along to play with Minn, so he could "stick it" to the Packers.
He admitted that.......now of course, he says that has nothing to do with it........which made my B.S. meter go off the charts.

Greg...I'm with you and nonstop. Philly OT int, 6 picks vs. St. Louis, horrible pass vs. Giants in OT...was Brett the sole reason packers lost those playoff games? No, but could the organization count on HIM to win those big games?!?!?!?!?!?!

Not to mention the NONSTOP "will he retire/won't he" drama. His act was getting really old.

While I am glad we have Rodgers, and we don't have to put up with the "will he or won't he" crap anymore from Favre, I don't have the same hostility toward him that most Packers fans do.

After he was traded, I moved on. Similar to when you break up with a girlfriend, I couldn't care less who she dates. As far as Favre wanting to "stick it" to the Packers; his beef is with Ted Thompson, not me.

True Ironman.........but if someone wants to "stick it" to one of your loved ones, I would think it would bother you too.
Thats why BF wanting to do that to Ted Thompson (thus the Packers, MY team) it does in a round about way affect me.
But that said, I do NOT hate BF. Not one bit.
But i DO hope the Packers harass the heck out of him.

YOU may not hate Favre, but I hate Favre.

Not because of anything he did on the field (I have nothing but gratitutde for the 16 years of competitive football he gave us (after the preceding 20+ years of bottom dwelling) or during the off-season three-ring circus.

I hate Favre because he's a Viking, and I HATE the Vikings (Bears/Lions/Cowboys)...

beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Apparently it is too complicated for several to follow your simple instructions, but I digress
