I know its "still early"

But during 08 all I heard from the really big Brett supporters was that in 09 Driver was gone cuz of the popular reason of..He is a great friend of Bretts and Ted is getting rid of those players

I am not going to sit here and argue why thats just plain asinine to think..

but as of right now he is still a Packer and looks like he isnt going anywhere

And if he is cut by b4 start of the seaosn I will put on the bib and eat raw crow...

But those Driver is going to be cut people, you have your bibs ready?

And dont hide, cuz i will call you out if you do

Not me... I was not one of those people.

I always realized Donald Driver was a "True Packer." through and through.

Driver was not about to let one thorn in a black berry bush stop him from reaping the harvest and the life time lasting rewards that comes with being a Packer for life.

I do not think Donald ever considered leaving, and I do not think the Packers head office and staff were thinking they would lose or choose to cut ties with Donald Driver.

Driver is too smart to get caught up in the hoopla. Donald has a goal and a wish to retire a Packer. He has a love of this organization and community that is unconditional.

That is a damn rare thing. Especially from such a talented player.

This is why the next number that should be retired in Green Bay should be Number 80. And no numbers before that.

Infact... I would retire his number 80 while he is still active., this year, on November 1st.

that's dumb. no way. but, he's getting old. i think he'll be supplanted by one or two of our younger guys this year. I mean, I hope they can improve like that.

I didn't think that Donald Driver or Al Harris(another popular one this offseason it seemed) would be gone.

I wanted to trade him to Arizona along with a 3rd round pick for Boldin. If you look at these players as assets instead of an extension of your own family, it's easier to let go of them.

To Driver's credit, he has always outplayed his draft pick status and has earned every penny of his contract. He will be in our Hall of Fame, no doubt.

I'm not unhappy that we still have Driver, but he may be holding back a couple of young good prospects.

WR isn't a position where prospects get held back. If they are good enough they will surpass Driver like Jennings did. The thing is though there aren't many receivers with Driver's hands and ability to go over the middle and also be a dangerous deep threat. Even if Driver got knocked off of #2 he still makes a perfect posession/slot receiver. He also doesn't really ever disappear, he is always good for a few catches every game.

Cool stat I just looked up, in the last 5 years Driver has only missed having more than 1 catch in a game 3 times.

Nice stat, steve.

He is still only 34, I think...obviously on the tail end, but he's still very productive and elusive, incredible team leader, and I think next year or two with him transitioning to #3-4 and Nelson/Jones slowly maturing their way up is a perfect scenario.

If the Packers were ever going to move Driver, this offseason would have been the last to recapture value in return for moving him. He is still productive and teams like the Jets, Bears, Chargers would ransom up some value to obtain him.

With that said, I never thought that Driver would be moved, his value reaches further than the football field and his contract dollars are that out of whack. So color me in the corner that he wasn't going anywhere.

Barnett, Wells, and maybe Collins.. those couple I could see the Packer either moving or dangling out there. Barnett to a lesser degree because coming off an ACL his value was diminished. I still think if Wells and Spitz are close and with Preston and other able to back up center that Wells and his couple million might make a nice fit for a team that loses its center and makes sense for us to move.

BTW... we haven't had a good ol fashioned scrum on here with Brett or Ted being the focal point for a couple of weeks.. comical that we just can't resist.

That kind of "logic" goes with Ted Thompson haters. They don't consider that Ted Thompson does whats best for the TEAM. It has NOTHING to do with "his guys" (meaning guys he drated) he does whats best for the GBP's. But they can't, or at least won't admit that. It's much easier to paint him as "evil", and to say he will dump Driver for the already listed reasons. If Driver is let go, it will be ONLY because it's what he sees as best for the TEAM.
And I also don't think DD is holding back developement of younger players. He's still got "it", is a team leader, and the young guys can learn ALOT from him. Especially on how to conduct themselves on and off the field.

So the guy holding the number 2 receiving position doesn't hold back 3 and 4? They're learning alot standing there on the sidelines watching, right?

dfosterf (25-Jul) : It's my one day deal complaint dept. on shareholder meeting day
dfosterf (25-Jul) : Probably a homer access credential intimidation kinda thing
dfosterf (25-Jul) : Meathead "journalists" skip this, concentrating on operational revenue when convenient. They switch when net revenue is more favorable.
dfosterf (25-Jul) : Resulting in an actual drop of net revenue of 12.5%. She is from Minnesota. Just sayin'
dfosterf (25-Jul) : Any plans to hold Maureen Smith (CFO) accountable for a 95% drop in investment revenue?

dfosterf (25-Jul) : Possibly hit his head leaning into the glass protecting the food in the cafateria
dfosterf (25-Jul) : Maybe a low flying drone
dfosterf (25-Jul) : Did Savion Williams run into a goalpost or something?
Mucky Tundra (25-Jul) : also, no bueno when a guy starts getting concussions right off the bat in his career
Zero2Cool (25-Jul) : Concussion is worse. Banks probably vet off day via back booboo claim
Mucky Tundra (25-Jul) : @AndyHermanNFL Jordy Nelson out at camp today. No word if he’s in play for one of the two open roster spots ; )
