umm those stats show that they have played a similar amount of games and Ben has a 7% higher completion percentage, more yards, 1.5 average per pass higher, more TD, less INT, 400 more rushing yards, and 7 more rushing TDs.

When it comes down to it, wins matter, stats don't.

You know, I've been doing some thinking about this, and I'm thinking I may have to reconsider my philosophy a little. After all, this is basically just a philosophy disagreement. I personally find defense and run-based offenses boring (maybe I'm hyperactive) and I tend to enjoy flashy, pass-based offenses more. So perhaps I overly deprecate the quarterbacks who "just get the job done."

The fact is, players like Manning and Roethlisberger haven't HAD to do as much as other QBs like Rodgers, so we haven't really had a chance to see what they could do if they had to. And while their play isn't as exciting or flashy, one could say there's something noble about doing what's asked of you and not making any foolish mistakes, whereas perhaps Rodgers' numbers are inflated by needing to carry the team on his shoulders.

So while I'll try to give these journeymen, "clutch" quarterbacks more respect in the future, I still don't give them primary credit for the rings. That doesn't mean, however, they aren't good quarterbacks. I can see that now.

I have no beef with QBs who don't put of huge stats but I am not going to automatically say they are a good QB just because their team does good. Some QBs that I think are good at doing what they have to do but don't put up huge stats are guys like Pennington, Garcia, and Roethlisberger. I just really don't think at this point Eli is that good of a QB.

edit: I don't think Kerry Collins is very good either he can join Eli on "overrated QB island".

Oddly, I've always rooted for Kerry Collins. I make no claim to consistency. šŸ˜‰

You folks have to understand another thing and that is the environment Eli plays in. It is probably the worst place weather wise to play. You hear about the winds in that stadium constantly from kickers so i can understand the Giants being a running team. I seen someone say imagine what Rivers could do there and I respond and say you probably would see the same type of numbers. I believe even Rodgers would have average stats if he played in NY all the time. I personally think both Mannings are over rated, but hey if you have a good last name that will carry you a long way. Racing Earnhardt sr's name is carrying JR, Michael Jordon's boy will be given a lot because of the name and so on. For qb's all that counts is the Wins plain and simple they can put up big stats but if they don't win games they will be benched.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be šŸ™‚ (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Haze.. you do realize that Brett, Pennington, and all other Jets QB's throw in the same home stadium don't you? Didn't Brett throw for 6 TD's on that same field?

You are a funny gent.. anything to twist it to Rodgers..

He definitely has painted himself into a corner. It remains to be seen whether Haze comes to the board like a man this year when we are 13-3 or hide like most of the Shermanites did in 2007.

My money's on Haze taking a big gulp and praising Rodgers.

Damn i don't even bring up Rodgers and people think i am, I just stated that the stadium itself isn't a qb friendly place to play.
