First year starter. That is all that needs to be said.

Whats that have to do with anything? He was on the team for 3 damn years i'm so tired of that. Yet Flacco and Ryan come in and bring their teams to the playoffs with brand new head coaches.

Rodgers is a good qb and does have areas to improve. I posted the 2 articles to try and show that we have weaknesses and trying to get people to take off the goggles and see this.

How do you always conveniently lose track of any other stat when it gives you a chance to bash on someone you don't like. (Yes, I saw the Favre post, you're claiming not to be a Rodgers basher, but yet, you twist everything in a way that it'll look bad.)

Flacco had very mediocre stats. He gets into the play-offs with Ray Rice, Willis McGahee, a big bruising O-line and (one of) the best defenses in the league, yet, we can chalk that one up to him. Maybe we can even throw in some 4th quarter comebacks. The Cowboys would be perfect. Two 60+ yard runs from his backs. I love me some Flacco.

Then Ryan. Given, he had a decent rookie season, but his numbers don't rival Rodgers'. Not by far. Given, he's a rookie and Rodgers has been in the league for a while. That does indeed make a difference to me. However, the Falcons where 2nd in rushing yards, with the passing offense dragging them down to a decent 10th in overall yards. Their defense got all walked over, but a statistical abnormality got them in. Or some very good red-zone defense. You can choose yourself. 24th in yards, 11th in points given up.

I think that it's pretty safe to say that these teams didn't get in because of their QBs. Their defense and running game helped them out immensly.

Now to the Packers. 5th in points, 8th in passing yards and 17th in rushing yards. It's obvious how we're moving this offense. Looks like a play-off caliber team. This by itsself doesn't look like a SB winner, but it's very solid. Build a good defense around it or improve the running game and we can get to the big dance with Rodgers at helmet. Still, we didn't get into the play-offs. 26th in rushing yards given up, 22nd in points given up, 12th in passing yards given up and that makes for the 20th ranked defense.

Rodgers didn't play that well in the last part of the game. I give you that. I did some research a while back and he went something like 10/20, 1 TD, 2 Ints. Not too pretty. Does that mean that he's a stat guy? Or doesn't have any leadership ability? C'mon, what a bunch or bullcrap. Once again, he was a first year starter and his defense and running game failed him continuesly. Does he need some improvement? Obviously. Is he worse than Ryan, because Ryan was a 'rookie miracle'? I seriously doubt it. Had the defense not given up 4 games, we'd been 10-6 and everyone would've been happy. Even with those other 3 close games that he gave up. I'm blaming defense mostly, and Rodgers a little.

Wonders if Zero or 93Z would have posted the article people would actually read it and see it wasn't me speaking in the original post but a writer from JSO.

I am not going to keep going over the same old boring debate about Ryan and Flacco plain and simple they were the starting qb for a team that sucked the year before and led them to the playoffs.

READ THE DAMN ARTICLE I'm not the one cutting down on Rodgers but his own damn coach.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I read the article, again, before it was posted here. Regardless of who posted the article, I stand by my comments about Rodgers. I think he has plenty of room to improve. I don't really see the coach as cutting Rodgers down with his comments. I do say that I think that is up to our own perception. I took his comments more so as just the truth with no bullshitting. Facts are facts. Aaron needs to improve and we're lucky that he's young and at the level he's at.

Who's worshiping Rodgers as a hero? I think most fans are just RELIEVED he's not a Rex Grossman or Tavaris Jackson or Rick Mirer or ... you get the point. I believe most fans were scared shittless of our QB position when Brett retired. To see Rodgers come in under a helluva load of pressure and play at a decent level, shit, I think the Packer world took a huge sigh of relief. I think that sigh of relief is being misguided in your views as worship. I think you're wrong there.

We were all spoiled as Packers fans for 16 years. Packer fans are smart and are aware of the difficulties of finding a worthy franchise QB. Most fans feel more secure in the notion we may have found our QB of the next ten years and like myself and VERY grateful for it.

Your position of trouble comes in that he was drafted by Ted, not Sherman or Wolf therefore his ill timed/worded comment to the fans after being barraged with Brett questions ... 'They need to get on board now or keep their mouths shut' put loads of sand in your vagina.

Yes i know our defense failed at the end of games but yet we were tied for 3rd with 22 ints and had 6 fumbles with 7 returned for tds which lead the league. So apparently the defense did do some good and helped us win some games also which is pretty much forgotten about. I was a total team failure last year plain and simple.

The special teams had 2 td returns and 6th best in punt return yards.

Mason Crosby was #5 in scoring amongst kickers last year.

So with that you can still say Crosby lost us 2 games but then Rodgers lost us 4 games with his ints in the final 4 minutes of a game.

"dhazer" wrote:

And how many of those INT, fumble or punt returns came in the last five minutes of the game? How many game winning kicks did Crosby make? Sure, they kept us in the game, but so did Rodgers and his 28 TDs. The article you posted mentions Rodgers being a stats guy because he couldn't get it done at the end of the games. That's fine, but our defense and special teams was exactly the same way. Our entire team was unclutch last year and it's unfair to place the blame solely on Rodgers.

I wasn't.

And as for dhazer, to say that Flacco and Ryan "lead" these teams to the playoffs is risible on its face. And that's putting it very politely.

The prob I saw haze was not the article but the negative part of the article you chose to quote. You didn't preface your quotinh of said article. Therefore on its face you appeared to be going out of you way to be negative towards rodgers.
He needs improvement as do we all in life. We have seen him perform with the pressure on him replacing farve let's see how he does in 2 AF (after farve) . My biggest concern is the backup posistion could Flynn or Brohm get us 2 n 2 if rodgers went down for 4 weeks that I don't think so.
I am therefor I think.

Yes. That comment on Brohm hiding in his shell worries me the most in that entire article. It does a leader no good to be invisible when the going gets tough.

Yeah.....Rodgers is a "stat guy". 28 TD's to 13 INT's, and no playoffs as compared to 22 TD's and 22 INT's and no playoffs. But HE"s not a "stat guy", he's the GREATEST!!!
Again....i LOVE the "balance".

beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.

beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
