Whats going on everyone? So...let the countdown begin, I am getting married in t-minus 11 DAYS. Might sound crazy but reality is just now hitting me. She started moving her stuff into the new place yesterday and the thought in my mind was.."holy shit". Its a good "holy shit" of course, if there is such a thing.

I am very excited and wouldn't mind if the day was tomorrow to be honest, but my nerves are definitely tingling. I am so damn nervous.
We are getting married in Grand Rapids, Michigan July 3rd, 2009 @ 3pm.

So...for the married folks out there, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Newlywed tips yada yada. Oh yeah, I just applied to begin my Masters in August!!!

Thanks much.

I'd say treat her as if it was the first day you met, everyday of your life.

If that doesn't help you, I say...
RUN WHILE YOU CAN!!

since i'm in the home stretch towards marriage #2 & FINAL marriage...

try to focus on the marriage as a whole.

don't let the little things drive you nuts - remember why you married her.

don't allow yourselves to grow apart. adapt your relationship to change because you will both change alot during your marriage.

if you think things should be getting easier, you're wrong. marriage is hard work but well worth it. 😃

The number-one mistake men make when they get married is they get domesticated. Don't fall for that trap. Don't become predictable, or your wife will quickly get bored with you. In other words, never stop treating your wife like a girlfriend. To this day, people don't believe that my wife and I are married, but they have to admit we're the happiest married couple they've ever met.

The second piece of advice I have for you is never stop demanding -- yes, I said DEMANDING -- respect from your wife, and you both will be much happier. Of course, to demand respect, you must be worthy of respect, so always bear that in mind. But women are strange: They will constantly buck for control in the relationship, but the moment you give it to them, they begin to despise you. Never cede control over the relationship to your woman, and she will feel much more secure. Plus she will respect and admire you, which will feel very good for your ego and deepen your love for her. Learn how to maintain control without being controlling -- it's a delicate balancing act, but one that will pay off dividends down the road.

Avoid the two most common mistakes men make -- getting boring and ceding control, which are two sides of the same coin -- and you will be amazed at how rewarding marriage can be. Treat her like a girlfriend and demand respect, and she will adore you.

Oh, and congrulations. You have my warmest wishes for a long and prosperous future.

AKamp - Yeah, several. Make sure both you and she actually follow the vows you will take. That includes for rich and for poor. I can't speak for the rest of the country, but in California, I'm convinced the majority of marriages end because one person is a complete idiot with money. In mine, it's my wife, so I became a Nazi with our finances, took both of our paychecks, and gave her an allowance. It saved our marriage. As cold as that sounds, it's true.

The other thing, you got to agree on roles and stick to them. Do that before you get married. Stick to them too. Did I mention you need to stick to your roles? Good. Hopefully that sinks in. And that's for both of you, not just one of you.

My advice for you - there will be hot girls who will tempt you. Keep it in your pants. As long as it's in your pants, it won't ruin your marriage. I'm serious about this one too. There will be temptations. It's part of life. So keep it in your pants.

There you go. Follow that advice and you should be good.

Marriage takes work. I hope both of you understand that. The rewards are worth it, but only if BOTH of you are willing to do the work.

that's one thing that is crazy.

once you start wearing that gold band on your finger, and you go out for guys night out, you will not believe the amount of women that will start hitting on you.

that gold band is like a chick magnet.

My golden rule on marriage #2...

Listen more than you speak and show her the respect she deserves always.

I followed those two simple rules the first time, and they worked beautifully for about 6 years.. then she changed. Can't win them all.

Congrats and good luck.

beast (3h) : What is he supposed to say? He doesn't want players currently on the team?
Martha Careful (7h) : meh
Zero2Cool (11h) : Sounds like Walker and Wyatt will be with Packers for beyond 2026
Zero2Cool (11h) : It's so awesome.
Zero2Cool (11h) : new site fan shout post fast
wpr (15h) : Slow posting in Fan shout.
wpr (15h) : Only 4
wpr (15h) : Only 4
Zero2Cool (17h) : If only we had a topic to read about and discuss it. That's something new website must have!!!
dfosterf (18h) : Justice Musqueda over at Acme Packing put up an excellent synopsis of the Packers 1st round options this am
wpr (19-Apr) : 5 days
beast (18-Apr) : 6 days
wpr (17-Apr) : 7 days
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
