I wasn't aware that people seeking gay marriage want entitlements above and beyond what straight couples get. And I don't quite understand the purpose of the "taxpayer" comment.

When the spouse of a gay couple works for the government, who do you think pays for their benefits? T-a-x-p-a-y-e-r-s?

And who says gay couples have the right to get married? To me it's the same as Drinking Buddies and Bowling Partners wanting to get married. Why does engaging in a specific lifestyle warrant special recognition and status? Maybe Harley riders should demand free gas because they're Bikers.

Heck, maybe gay bikers should get free harleys at taxpayer expense.

Sound absurd? It's supposed to be absurd. It's just one more group of people out there with their hands out demanding entitlements because elements in society are just a bunch of meanies. Wah.

It is wrong to tell people "No" once in a while? Go out and EARN your own health benefits, the same as the rest of us?

Isn't the answer the same.. the taxpayers.. so how it that special entitlement?

You can say people trump up marriages to gain the benefits if you wish, but I could probably claim there are a ton of couples that stay together for nothing more than the benefits and tax breaks.. are they free loaders as well?

I could have had my hand out years ago asking for a free ride and probably got it as well.. but instead I choose to earn my way.. and nothing pisses me off more than someone getting a free ride on our dollar when they could be easily working instead.

But I don't see where you are making your claim here.. maybe I am missing some legislation on the subject... please share.

Just don't do it it on my dime.

We better set up interviewing stations and guidelines in order for two people to get approved to get married and whom can't... isn't that what we are saying, two full grown adults can't make a decision on whom they spend their life with. So what other rules are there? Mixed races? Body types? Smoking? Income? Profession? Having one leg or two? Where does society get to draw these "lines" on whom can unite?

Doesn't sound like a free country to me, with church and government divided..

You want to marry your bowling partner and form a partnership for health benefits, yet endure the ridicule of mainstream society in the process.. go for it.

i believe "just" being a good person who believes in God should grant you access to His kingdom...but maybe that's just me.

i don't believe for one second that a person sits around & one day decides "poof, i've decided i'm gonna be gay because now my life is gonna be great - i'll be ostracized by the majority, ridiculed by most, & spat on in public - woo hoo - i'm so glad i made that decision."

really people - come ON!!

now i'm gettin all fired up...walking away. 😃

T.O. calls Garcia gay, and this is apparently meant to do Garcia harm.

I say T.O. is a prick for doing so. I also think Garcia is nuts if he is. His wife is fine, to me. Definitely giving her a waiver if those boobs are fake.

Some have rumored that Rodgers is gay. I have a tough time caring about that also.

Yet others have said that Ted Thompson is gay, and still others have said the Brett Favre called him a fag within earshot. I don't care about that either.

I also don't care if some are what others would describe as homophobic.

I don't get the gay thing, but if two guys get off doing weird shit to each other, have at it, gay guys.

I think I understand women being gay, and frankly, have a tough time figuring out why more of them are not gay. They smell and look good, and seem to figure out the lack of equipment problem quite well. (No way I could comment on this issue without at least one Seinfeld allusion  )

Listen, if the criteria for "rights" is dependent upon some other person's perception of what "is right"...well, that is wrong.

You want to be a homophobe...I think that is totally fine...just keep it to yourself when it comes to imposing your will on others.

You want to be gay---Same thing--you can have your rights, just like a "conventional" relationship, imo.

Just don't shove anything on me...literally or figuratively...for example, take your rainbow and stick it up your...well...you know where to stick it, lol

They are gay because that is who they are..

You are straight because that is who you are..

Can't you see that?

So society is the controlling factor to whether two people can form a united union of marriage?

"pack93z" wrote:

Is that an issue? Why?

Would you be shocked, let alone outraged, if a 17 year boy had sex with a 17 year old girl?

What if I had sex with a 17 year old girl? You better believe there would be an outrage and you can guess what's going to happen to my freedom.

But the ACT is the same. Yet there is a DIFFERENCE because society has set rules for such conduct.

Since there is a DIFFERENCE, perhaps there is a DIFFERENCE between marriage between a man and woman versus a same-sex couple. I'm not saying a same-sex couple having sex is an outrage, I'm saying being a same-sex couple does not entitle them to anything beyond the relationship as it stands now.

If that's wrong, then I can argue why it's wrong to deny me from having sex with seventeen year olds. Why should I be denied doing something that isn't already being done?

Doesn't sound like a free country to me, with church and government divided..

Huh???

You want to marry your bowling partner and form a partnership for health benefits, yet endure the ridicule of mainstream society in the process.. go for it.

Gay couples and Bowling Partners should not endure the wrath of society. Period. All should be treated with equal respect. But that's not the same as ENTITLEMENT! Just like I should be entitled to having sex with 17 year old girls.

Just where have I said people don't have a right to be gay? Just where I have said it's some kind of sin? Just where have I said the "Bible says...?"

Just don't post if you're going to assume I said things that I haven't. It really pisses me off when "enlightened" people start throwing out labels and stereotypes and prejudices. Ironic.
