Brett of course deserves to be in "The Ring". Will it happen while Ted Thompson is GM? Probably not, Ted Thompson won't be there long enough.

After Brett gets done playing, he will be honored in Green Bay, all the crap from last summer will be forgotten. N
o matter if or who Brett plays for this year and/or next, when he decides to finally hang up his jersey it will be as a Green Bay Packer!!!! ]

Great answer Buckeye!

Favre will dwarf Ted Thompson in the memory of Packerdom. That sits in Ted Thompson's stomach and burns their, smoting his massive EGO.

Once Ted Thompson is gone, The Pack can return to their winning ways, and forget this chapter of massive error in Packer history.

+1

On topic...

I would also like to reflect on the confirmation by Trippster of what I always [strike]suspected strongly[/strike] knew was the the way Ted conducts business/management style.

He listens to his subordinates and bases decisions on their input, as any good manager would.

It is documented, for example, that Ron Wolf operated in much the same way.

For example, when he was contemplating the acquisition of Brett Favre, Ron sought input from one of his subordinates, specifically, Ted Thompson.

Ted watched the tape Ron gave him and concurred with Ron's assessment.

We as fans forget this, but I bet Ted doesn't. As far as who is on this organization right now...

Ted is by far and away the most responsible for Brett Favre EVER having been a Green Bay Packer, and that is very much under-appreciated...imo

One thing I always concern myself with is the possibility that one of his scouts has too much influence upon Ted...in other words, he listens too much to them, not enough. I worry when we draft anyone from Tennessee, for example. but that's another story.

If you don't take the time to READ whats actually said, how can you comment on it, like what you are saying is more important, or even correct?
Even if you don't like whats being said, at LEAST read it.
Of course if you already KNOW that whats being posted blows holes in your arguments, i can see that as a "good" reason (excuse) NOT to read whats posted.

Most responsible is kind of a copout.

Just because Thompson was in Green Bay at the time doesn't mean he was on board and I don't want any quotes of Thompson 15 years later saying he liked Favre back in his day. Of course he's going to say that.

Was Ted actually involved in making the decision because not everyone agrees within the front office with the GM?

In fact I would argue rarely is their ever a consensus within the front office especially one like Green Bay where there isn't any pressure from an owner who is sitting in the room. Lot of debate goes on. Ted could've disagreed.

I would say Wolf made the call and was going to make the call with or without any influence from anyone including Thompson. This is just based on the way Wolf reportedly gushed over Favre even when he was in New York.

The highest pick Thompson has dealt for a player I believe was a 6th for Ryan Grant. That's off the top of my head though. The track record doesn't tilt in his favor of bringing Favre in for a first though. I suppose Atlanta may of given him away for a 2nd or a 3rd based on they seem to just wanted to get rid of him period.

Based on Thompson's conservative approach as GM, he probably wouldn't traded a first for Brett Favre. It goes against everything he's done as GM of the Green Bay Packers. Maybe he drafts Steve McNair instead two years later if he's in that position. Honestly who knows. Not saying Thompson wasn't high on Favre. I simply don't know because none of us do unless someone read a report I may of missed.

I think I figured it out. DHazer and Old Man are both Philtration trying to raise hell in the offseason.

Yep, from now on I will refer to them as Phil...even if it is not true since that doesnt seem to matter to them either.

By the way, EVERYONE has an ego. They also have the id Ego and the Super ego.

My point was that I am told that Ted does NOT have an ego that is bigger than most.

BTW since Ted Thompson is taking credit for bringing in Brett, whats next he brought in Reggie, hell he might as well say he told Vince to get Bart and Paul and Max lol.

What is wrong with this picture? Everything is put on the GM when it's in regards to a 6 - 10 losing season. However, when it's talking about Wolf as a GM then it's Ted taking credit for Brett Favre? Which is it man? Ted hates Brett or Ted is the reason we got Brett?

Better yet, just skip over this hard question just like the rest of them that you always ignore instead of take head. Just continue to answer those questions you can lie your ass off instead of ones like this that smack you down in the foolish toilet. Again!

I wouldn't have brought Brett in for what we paid for him either.

Brett was injury prone.

He had half of his intestines removed, and he failed his physical.

At least Justin Harrell passed his physical.

Therefore, Justin is the better pick. (How's that for applying whack logic--keepin' with the theme, here)

Sorry I don't have a link to the quotes discussing the decision making process when Ron Wolf opted to get Brett Favre.

Kind of tough to do, considering there weren't any.

The World wide web was having about 5 hits at the time.

You might not believe this, but I doubt that any of them were referencing Ted Thompson's input into that decision.

As far as who is more conservative, Ron Wolf certainly had a set on him to go out and get Brett, but they were cheesey balls in comparison to the titanium ones that Ted displayed in getting rid of him.

Mucky Tundra (10-Feb) : if the Eagles get it down to the 1, do they Tush Push or give it to Barkley?
TheKanataThrilla (10-Feb) : 49ers have a money problem if they want to sign their QB
Mucky Tundra (10-Feb) : Wait for real? Didn't he just get an extension two years ago?
Zero2Cool (10-Feb) : 49ers gonna trade Deebo. Interesting
TheKanataThrilla (10-Feb) : Replays always never seem to show the holdings
TheKanataThrilla (10-Feb) : Great throw by Hurts
Mucky Tundra (10-Feb) : Where Carter falls prey to bad off the field influences (to be clear, not saying he'd clip someone though)
Mucky Tundra (10-Feb) : Had Carter not gone to Philly were they already had a lot of old college friends, he ends up in a similar spot to Aaron Hernandez
Mucky Tundra (10-Feb) : I think some of his coaches told scouts to stay away
Mucky Tundra (10-Feb) : the street racing incident+conditioning and motivation problems
beast (10-Feb) : Then Carter was street racing, where the other car crashed and people died... and other teams were scared to pick Carter for some reason
beast (10-Feb) : I think the Saints traded up, giving their next year 1st to the Eagles, and then they sucked and Eagles got the 10th overall pick
packerfanoutwest (10-Feb) : wtf Barkley?
TheKanataThrilla (10-Feb) : Getting Carter and Nolan Smith in the first round in 2023 was pretty darn good
Mucky Tundra (10-Feb) : for some reason i'm thinking of a draft where the Eagles where in the mid 20s and a top player fell all the way to them
TheKanataThrilla (10-Feb) : I think so. I would need to look it up. Think it may have been Carolina's pick.
Mucky Tundra (10-Feb) : i'm not sure who i'm thinking of now
Mucky Tundra (10-Feb) : oh fuck me i messed that up
Zero2Cool (10-Feb) : Jordan Davis was 13th overall
Zero2Cool (10-Feb) : Carter was 9th overall
Zero2Cool (10-Feb) : Eagles had 15th and 10th selections, moved to 13 and 9 to get Davis and Carter back to back
Zero2Cool (10-Feb) : Eagles traded up for Carter, didn't they?
Mucky Tundra (10-Feb) : Obviously he was a huge risk but getting a top 5 talent on the dline in the mid 20s is fortuitous
Mucky Tundra (10-Feb) : Jalen Carter falling into their lap certainly helps
TheKanataThrilla (10-Feb) : And we could only wish to have this type of D
TheKanataThrilla (10-Feb) : It's not like Philly has had low draft picks, but has managed to get themselves a top notch pass rush. We spend so much draft capital of D
packerfanoutwest (10-Feb) : another crap halftime show
TheKanataThrilla (10-Feb) : I think it is over, but then I think of Atlanta and want Philly to go in with the same intensity in the second half
