Whats the point of this thread? That people really hate Brett more than they are saying? Allegedly? Really, who gives a damn what Sharper has to say? Freeman? Not me. Freeman can thank Favre for any contract he received after his rookie contract. Obviously he was garbage after he left the Packers. Too bad the Packers kept sticking favre with these mediocre scrubs all his career or Favre might have put his records far out of reach of Manning in addition to maybe getting more than one ring.

Also, who the hell ever said that Favre was supposed to be all things to all people. He's just one guy. He's a human. He's not mother Teresa, he's not Jesus Christ. He's a football player. He always played his hardest. He was always respectful to the fans and his peers. He never went to the media and publicized contract matters or internal player drama other than one time(Javon Walker) which I didn't agree with but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. He never held out, always gave the Packers friendly deals when it came to contract negotiations. Though he always had a good salary, he was so beloved in the mid 90's and early 2000's that he could have bent the Packers over and stuck it to them and the Pack would have paid it. I always respected that about him.

He's selfish. How about Sharper? Is he selfish? He left the Pack for $$$. Problem here is Favre is on such a high pedestal that when he acts normal, he is blasted because he is not the fun loving saint that people have made him out to be.
The guy has said nothing this offseason. All the media speculation is hyping this up. The guy is taking his time, thinking about whether he wants to do this, etc. He has the right to do so.

But seriously, the way some of you guys expect so much out of him is pretty childish. He owes you nothing. You guys are dissapointed because he's not the fun loving redneck, smiling on his tractor and telling jokes that you want him to be. Get over it and grow up.

What's the point? This is a Packers website where members discuss the Packers and other related information. This is just that. Now that you have point clearly stated to you. Quite with the 'he owes you' lines because well if you can't figure out the point of a thread you have no place in generalizing any group of people. Grow up.

Brett is Brett, period. In a few years, non of this will matter. For now, it kills time during the piss poor off season so if you don't like it, don't open the damn threads and surely don't read them. There are other threads and other topics that would be better with your comments and opinions than your whining about things that you nor I can change.

I have a feeling you only read the first line of what I said based on your response. I get the point of the thread(bash Brett some more) and my question was rhetorical. I wasn't necessarily speaking to you also. I know how you feel about it but I'm more so speaking to the people who like to jump on the guy at every opportunity.

Does anybody else feel like Favre's antics and the media circus have a circular effect? I almost feel that Favre was helped into returning by all the media frenzy in 2008, all the people saying that he still has it and he should play if he wants. I think he feeds off others opinions as much as his own, and the validation he receives from the media justifies in part his desires to keep playing.

I would say yes 100% correct. Maybe 50/50 media/him. Everyone wants to feel needed in life. Whether you're a prof athelete, a guy on a bowling team or you play basketball a couple times per month. If you're past your prime but you think someone can use you or you can help someone you give it consideration.

I also think he intended on going to the Vikings all along and told the Jets about it. Maybe he had to retire first, then the Jets could release him without cap implications. Then the Minnesota rumors start flying a week or 2 later. If i'm wrong about the cap implications please correct me.

I think you should ask yourself if the media needs Favre just as much, or MORE than Favre needs the media.

You see, I dont' see it as Favre creating this "drama" and needing the media to feed his ego.

I see it as a guy at the end of his career who keeps wanting to play football in the NFL, and to keep winning.

The fans and the media are the ones turning it into a circus. Not Favre.

Then I would ask, he could end it all by making a statement

All the rumors are false, no need for them

Wait...... he did that last year and a little bit later flew into Green Bay on a Sunday night.

Or he could say in a text message NO to the question are you wanting to come back..

Wait.....he did that too but then days later said he thought Dilfer was asking if he hired a personal trainer

But yeah Brett is not making this to be a circus..

Seriously...He could end it all by have a p/c and announcing HIS intentions instead of texting Ed, Chris, Peter, Rachael, and Al

"As of now, I am retired".

How is that doing all the crap that you're accusing him of.

So he's thinking of making a comeback, big deal.

All of the Ted Thompson supporters are attacking him because they're afraid. I see no other reason to do so.

Only thing I would like is for Brett to come out and say the truth. If he would come out and say, I am currently still retired, but I am checking out my health and weighing my options for a possible return, I would be much happier.

I don't care if Brett wants to play, even with the Vikings. If he thinks he is capable, fine. I am just tired of all the speculation floating around, and a few minutes of his time could put an end to most of it.

And a simple statement from Ted Thompson could have cleared things up before the biggest fiasco in NFL history took place last year.

Brett said

AS OF NOW I AM RETIRED!

100% TRUTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He doesn't have to tell ANYONE what his plans are. If the media speculates thats their deal.

And then the predictable, Ted Thompson backers will misinterpret what Brett says and find a way to crown him the devil for it.

Zero2Cool (18h) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (22h) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (22h) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (23h) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (23h) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (23h) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (23h) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (23h) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (23h) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (23h) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (23h) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (23h) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move

dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
wpr (9-Apr) : yay
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Mark Murphy says Steelers likely to protect Packers game. Meaning, no Ireland
Zero2Cool (8-Apr) : Struggling to figure out what text editor options are needed and which are 'nice to have'
Mucky Tundra (8-Apr) : *CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP*
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : WR who said he'd break Xavier Worthy 40 time...and ran slower than you
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Who?
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Texas’ WR Isaiah Bond is scheduled to visit the Bills, Browns, Chiefs, Falcons, Packers and Titans starting next week.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Spotting ball isn't changing, only measuring distance is, Which wasn't the issue.
