"As of now, I am retired".

How is that doing all the crap that you're accusing him of.

So he's thinking of making a comeback, big deal.

All of the Ted Thompson supporters are attacking him because they're afraid. I see no other reason to do so.

Only thing I would like is for Brett to come out and say the truth. If he would come out and say, I am currently still retired, but I am checking out my health and weighing my options for a possible return, I would be much happier.

I don't care if Brett wants to play, even with the Vikings. If he thinks he is capable, fine. I am just tired of all the speculation floating around, and a few minutes of his time could put an end to most of it.

And a simple statement from Ted Thompson could have cleared things up before the biggest fiasco in NFL history took place last year.

Brett said

AS OF NOW I AM RETIRED!

100% TRUTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He doesn't have to tell ANYONE what his plans are. If the media speculates thats their deal.

And then the predictable, Ted Thompson backers will misinterpret what Brett says and find a way to crown him the devil for it.

What could have Ted done, I think it was pretty obvious that his decision was made.

I know he is under no obligation to say anything, But if Brett cared for the fans as much as he claimed he did for so many years, he would make a statement one way or the other. He doesn't need to reveal any plans, just a simple statement.

"I am thinking about giving it another shot, if my arm is OK and the right situation is presented to me, I would come back for another year."

The media would still make their stories, which team he fits, which he doesn't and all, but it would, for the fans remove some of the uncertainty. Wouldn't you like to hear from him that he is if nothing more weighing his options? Not the, I am retired and then keep seeing all the media stories trying to point to the contrary.

I see it as a guy at the end of his career who keeps wanting to play football in the NFL, and to keep winning.

But its OKAY I am FINE with that..

but to say he doesnt add to the circus is a little ignorant dont ya think?

As I said..

If BRETT himself makes an announcement it will be ALL CLEARED up at least up until he changes his mind or does something different.

Before anyone gets their panties in a bind from that last sentence.

HE HAS EVERY RIGHT TO CHANGE HIS MIND

But by speaking for himself on tv or radio at least we hear it from his mouth and not how someone spins it..

Credible? Probably not.

But I've yet to read any article saying Favre played because he wanted to and that he never wanted to stick it to the Packers, enact revenge for being traded to the Jets instead of the Bucs, etc.. Until such an article is found, stating that Favre has said he never wanted to stick it to the Packers, then a lack of articles is insufficient proof to say Favre never said it.

Edit: Probably a better link than the first:
