I know it's been awhile, but this game is still chapping my ass a bit.

Packers said they'd roll with the highs and the lows of Anders Carlson. I was on-board through the end. Let the kid have a season, it's not like this was a Super Bowl window season.

AND THEN IT KIND OF WAS.

I didn't give Packers much chance vs 49ers.

AND THEN I WATCHED THE GAME.

And dammit, dammit, DAMMIT! The Packers knew Kingsley Enagbare had ACL or something severe, so why not put him on IR and bring in a veteran kicker?

I mean, I guess he was 20-20 on FG's 39 yards and less, but were they really going to let the ...well ... I guess they were gonna let the kid kick a potential game winning FG if it came to that.

I just think after destroying the Cowboys PLUS basically having a roster spot open, you bring in a veteran kicker who can do better than 7-13 on FG's 40+.

Yes, I know, Packers didn't lose because of the kicker, I get it, we all have brains and know that. I just feel his 40+ FG's were a glaring weak spot and would have liked the Packers to use that 53rd spot on someone to shore up for remaining games when the roster spot became open.

So damn frustrating the defense couldn't get 49ers off the field without giving up points. I actually thought with how much clock 49ers were eating up, we had a fair shot for a win. 🤦🤦

The San Francisco 49ers fans may well be posting some of these exact same sentiments after the Super Bowl. Their 3rd round draft pick kicker has been looking very dicey in these playoffs.
In some ways, it is worse. Jake Moody definitely had a superior pedigree than the UDFA turned into a 6th rounder by our brain trust, but they did take him in the 3rd friggin' round.
Oh boy, if the 49ers lose a Super Bowl in whole or in part due to their rookie kicker, people are gonna hear about it.
Moving forward, I do have a question. What would it take to trust Anders Carlson as our placekicker for 2024? Beating out Podlesney (sp)? Going to take more than that, is my bet, for many of us. Personally, I'm for dragging in several kicker candidates besides the 2 we have, and the least likely for me to trust is the one we have, barring more personal relationship pick ups by Rich or whomever.

Why can't Gute find a good LS since B. Goode?

Even worse, he drafted one, and kept him over a better LS, whom has been LSing with the Buccaneers since.

There's about 1.2 seconds from snap to kick. Ya can't hesitate. Ya gotta trust the process.

Packers GM Brian Gutekunst adds that the team considered adding a veteran option late in the season when the playoffs came into view but felt that Anders Carlson was their best option in the end.

Whatever, Brian, whatever.

dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
