And I thought my expectations were low... now you have me nervous that we're basically going to get minimum for Rodgers.


​​​​​​After reading the Jets thought they could get Rodgers without giving up a 1st, I was thinking 

2nd and 3rd in 2023 for Rodgers with a conditional pick in the future based on Rodgers returning in 2024 and how the team finished in 2023.

Then I read that Woody Johnson (Jets owner) was hoping the Packers would help split the cap cost of Rodgers first at least the first year and I thought the price just went up.

1st rounder in 2023 with a conditional 3rd in 2024 based on Rodgers returning and how the team does.


I also read one suggestion that I thought was semi reasonable that it could be two 2nd round picks in 2023 and 2024.

People are suggesting the Jets are only bidding against themselves at this point, but the smart thing to do (and one iffy report suggest this was done) the Packers lock in the trade details BEFORE letting other teams talk to your players.

So whatever the compensation is, it most likely was agreed on, before the Packers let the Jets talk with Rodgers. Which is why I'm disappointed it hasn't been leaked yet... as this sounds like it's almost a done deal.

If you give the Packers enough draft capital, then they could take the cap hits...

But really the Jets don't have much cap room in 2023, but they have the 16th most in 2024 and the 10th most in 2025. They can kick the can down the road if they want to go all in with no CURRENT problems...

He's had so many injuries, and came back so extremely rusted and STILL finished with PFF's 6th best OT pass blocking grade (4th best LT). If he wasn't rusty, he'd probably be in the top 2 in pass blocking.

Which 3 of the last 6 years (2017, 2018, 2020) he's finished 2nd best OVERALL OT grade, he was 12th overall in 2022.


In 2022, the Jets best OTs came in at #69, #71 and #76 in OT grades overall, behind Bakhtiari (#12), Tom (#40) and Nijman (#54)


A team that is in win now mode and doesn't have OT to protect a valuable QB really should make sure they have some protection for said QB.

It would seem to me they wouldn’t want to go through all the drama created, unless they had first come to some sort of arrangement.

I have a hard time believing that Woody would load up that airplane, fill it with fuel and fly 2,500 miles across the country if he didn't think the kid was going to play, if he didn't think Aaron would play," Lombardi said. "I think they expect it. I think they want to do a deal. I think the Packers want to do a deal and I think Aaron wanted to hear what they had to say."

Rodgers' contract could complicate a deal as both teams would need to be in compliance with the salary cap prior to the beginning of the new league year next Wednesday (March 15). Lombardi pointed out that the Jets have recently released several players in an effort to clear cap space ahead of a potential trade involving Rodgers.
