I love the move Ted made for Matthews, we got a QUALITY outside linebacker who can stop the run and drop back into coverage. Yeah we gave up a lot to grab him, but he went after the guy he wanted and got it. We whine and complain that Ted never does anything during the offseason, and always trades down, but now that he actually MADE a move, people complain about it? Quality pick in my Opinion and he will be a good player for us.

Sintim was my 2nd OLB after orakpo (ya he's a tweener but he's a OLB in a 3-4). Sintim had the stats as a OLB. I was impressed with his sack amount and/starts and tackles for a loss.

Ok my charts not the best here but you get the picture. Mattews has slightly better numbers at the combine via stats.

But in real live game situations ... Sintim wins hands down.

and then you throw in 2 3rd round picks you traded for mattews ...

The one thing that mattews has going for him is he is good at special teams. And thats one thing we need help with definately.

So obviously Ted Thompson wanted this guy and was willing to toss out our 3rd rounders for him.

I'll be comparing the 2 for the next few years to see how my pick would of worked out.

This is a good comparison - nice job.

I think Matthews wins out, though, because he projects to play better in space - we've got one OLB who is (from what we know now) a little limited in the position, so we needed someone who could be the more versatile kind of player. Sintim can certainly rush, but he projects to have the same liabilities as Kampy, so of the two Matthews is the better fit, IMO.

Now I have not read the whole thread so I apologize if this has been mentioned already.

Clay Matthews has been mentioned in the same breath as NE numerous times leading up to the draft. I definitely think Ted Thompson was scared that they would pick him up, thereby leaving him no choice other than to overpay. Because I too agree that we did overpay a bit with that pick. But hey, you never know. He could be the rookie of the year and then it wouldn't have been overpaying for the pick.

My 2 cent.

I felt Ted Thompson overpaid also, but I give him credit for going after a player he feels can really help. Hopefully he is accurate in his evaluation of Matthews.
Why is Jerry Kramer not in the Hall of Fame?

This to me is a stupid move.

We gave up 3 selections for THIS guy? Really?

This is a guy we could of got at 41 IMO.

I like the Raji selection, but THREE draft choices for a guy who wasn't even looked at as a top 10 pick. I also prefer Everette Brown.. and please don't tell me he's a clone of Jamal Reynolds only because they went to the same school..

Now we won't see ourselves picking until the fourth round.. great.

41,73,83 ... GREAT LINEUP.. GONE

NOT TO MENTION THE PICK WE GOT FOR A HALL OF FAME QUARTERBACK IS GOING TO THE PATRIOTS.

One of the stupidest moves I've ever seen. Sorry!

We got Clay and a draft pick, so it wasn't 3 picks for 1 guy.

Wasn't #83 the Favre pick? If so it's kind of funny that it turned out to be a guy that helped his team beat Favre 2 weeks ago.

For the record, I LOVE these first 2 picks. I was mad as hell at Ted Thompson last year and this year, he's done just about everything RIGHT.
