I'm just throwing this out there for "outside the box" discussion.

Since Thompson has built a pretty nice stable of young players through the draft, this team doesn't need to get any younger by drafting more young inexperienced players.
Ted should trade our entire draft to try to pick up 3 dominant experienced NFL ready players.
I would look for an offensive lineman, a good pass rusher to compliment Kampman and a very good middle linebacker.
I don't know if it could even work, but I just don't see any point in getting even younger at this point.

I don't know about getting rid of all our picks, but we could do something like the Browns did last year, I guess. Maybe get some veterans, or at least 3-4th+ year players.

Ofcourse you hoe that the draft picks from 3 years ago will be (good) starters soon, but especially round 4-7 don't always work out that well.

Although it obviously isn't TT's style to do this, I still hope he changes his ways for one year, and gets some quality trades.... I heared the Ravens wanted to get rid of a O-lineman or two.

I agree, now is the time in his philosophy to trade up - at least once. We don't have many weaknesses and we finally have decent depth.

And when it comes to LB's... I'd rather wait and draft Herzlich (Boston College) in 2010. Dude is a MONSTER.

I watched Herzlich today and was thinking how good he would look in a Packer uniform.

As both the Pro and college seasons progress, it is looking more and more like we could easily get (and this is if we improve record-wise, as it stands now we would even be able to trade back a little in the 1st round)

Duke Robinson Guard Oklahoma-- A huge, fast man--Consensus best guard, by far, in the draft.. a draft full of good ones

Alex Mack- Center California--- A big, fast Center The best in the draft, some say the best overall O lineman in the draft

Herman Johnson Guard LSU--- The consensus 2nd best Guard in the draft, any other year would be heads and tails above all others...but see Duke Robinson for why he isn't... Oh, and remember I said that Duke Robinson is a huge man? Well, Herman Johnson makes Duke look tiny.

Thanks yoop for affording me the opportunity to make my 55th reference to the aquisition of Duke Robinson and Herman Johnson, along with my 4th reference to the aquisition of Alex Mack...and thank you Brett Favre for making this scenario not only possible, but quite likely all will be available when we make our picks through the 1st two rounds... This would be good. Think along the lines (pun semi-intended) of aquiring three Joe Thomas' in the first two rounds of the draft... this is the caliber...

I actually am for a version of this, but not a drastic one like you've suggested here.

I think we need to move at least one high pick for a veteran impact player such as a pass rusher. I would say a 2nd rounder as I have a hunch our first rounder is probably going to be pretty reasonable this year.

I would deal a 2nd for Tony G. I think Carl Peterson would have to take that right now. He knows Tony G doesn't want to be around much longer and I think he'll deal Tony G for a 2nd.

I do believe you can get impact players in the draft and I think the first round is the obvious spot for that. I like how Thompson has drafted for the future with Aaron Rodgers being a future pick and I suposse Justin Harrell too. Right now it looks like he's one for two on those and Hawk was an impact right away.

I think you need to go for the impact player instead of the project this off season

I would use my 1st round pick on a pass rusher or a game changing back like Knowshon Moreno or Chris Wells.

Then I would use my other 2nd received from the Jets and maybe a future pick to move up into the draft and get an offensive lineman or a pass rusher pending what we did with the first pick.

I would also spend more money in free agency this year by bringing in veteran talent and for sure extending our own players.

It's a good year to need a defensive lineman as Julius Peppers will probably be on the market this year I think for a trade and Albert Haynesworth is all but certain to test the market.

It's early, but this is always fun stuff to talk about.

Knowing Thompson though, we won't have much to discuss until April.

I was just curious has Ted Thompson ever traded up in the draft? I see him trading the top 10 draft pick away for like a later 1st and 3rd. and then trade that 1st away for a 2nd this year and a 3rd next year. LOL i was going to keep going but you get the idea. He won't pick anyone we think would be an obvious pick he will take some little known player like always.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)
