I find this effing funny..

1st we have people yelling and screaming at Ted and staff for not OVER SPENDING on players in free agency.

Now we have a player that Ted and staff believe is worth the price of draft picks and they "over pay" in draft picks to get him, and now people are pissed at Ted for doing that

Some people are never happy

I completely agree... The Packers fill two needs with two 1st round quality players.

Plus we don't really need all those draft picks. We have enough young talent on the team. One or two more wont hurt but bringing in like 9 guys just isnt the right thing to do this year.

Excellent point. Most of the picks usually take a roster spot. We have the second youngest team in the league, or was it first? Either way, we have a plethora of young talent already. We need impact players.

I think we got two starters today.

I remember reading an interview of Ted Thompson a while back about how much he likes the current players and that he thinks there is a certain point where if you stock up on draft picks you just end up having to replace players with guys who arent any better/worse than the ones you already have. Thats why I think he was ok with giving up those picks.

Let's not forget we scored 419 points last year and 435 the year before. The O is not the problem. Our problem is our D, specifically not being able to stop the run nor generate pressure.

Even thou I would of rather Ted have taken Sintim; I dont mind mattews - the problem arises in what Ted traded to get him. And ya it's said this draft was pretty poor with talent; and on the other side of the coin. Its up to the teams to find the talent amoungst what there is.

To me the greatest pick out of the whole off-season was dom capers ...
lets see what capers can do with our 2 new D 1st and 2nd rounders.

People are being kind of stupid about this. One of those thirds we got for a QB who freaking retired. It was a free pick. Does that mean its okay to throw it away? No, but some retards are acting like we gave up a shit load to get that second 3rd rounder. We got it for a player who RETIRED!

With that said, I'd rather have had the trade go like this.
1st for our 2nd and highest 3rd.
or
1st, 3rd for our 2nd and both 3rds.

I don't like that we don't have a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Ted usually hits well on those. With this trade I'm thinking we have more going on behind the scenes. There will be more trades.

Also, let's keep this thread about Clay Matthews please.

Brett Favre was coming off of one of the most impressive seasons in his HOF career, even at his age, before the season he was still seen among the league's best. I think most of us believe that we could of gotten a lot more for Brett than just a conditional draft pick. With that said, you gotta value that pick.. and I'm disappointed the packers traded it away.. not only is it an honor to be that player that would of came in for brett but it also gives them a ton of motivation to do well.

I just feel that the packers gave up WAY to much for this pick. Sure I think clay will do alright in the 3-4, but to give away three selections where any one of those players can become potential elite players..even in their first year.. it doesn't make sense to me.

Fancy how you forget that Brett Favre RETIRED! And we still got a pick for him. Let's just throw that out the window cuz that's just non sense!

Clay Matthews, anyone? Anyone?

Brett didn't retire. He showed up to camp on time like any other year and Ted just said "get out of here we don't want you anymore" It's crazy how many people don't know the true story about what happened.

What does Brett have to do with Clay?

Well, according to nfldraftcountdown, we got the #7 and #24 player on the board. I'll take it, although I'm going to be bored during the 3rd round tomorrow.

Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
wpr (9-Apr) : yay
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Mark Murphy says Steelers likely to protect Packers game. Meaning, no Ireland
Zero2Cool (8-Apr) : Struggling to figure out what text editor options are needed and which are 'nice to have'
Mucky Tundra (8-Apr) : *CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP*
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : WR who said he'd break Xavier Worthy 40 time...and ran slower than you
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Who?
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Texas’ WR Isaiah Bond is scheduled to visit the Bills, Browns, Chiefs, Falcons, Packers and Titans starting next week.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Spotting ball isn't changing, only measuring distance is, Which wasn't the issue.
