This was just made available. I know this is being petty, but sponsors coming before fans and community just kind of rubs me wrong. I would think it would be community, fans and sponsors or even fans, community and sponsors. I dunno. It's petty, I know.

Statement From The Washington Redskins Football Team
On July 3rd, we announced the commencement of a thorough review of the team's name. That review has begun in earnest. As part of this process, we want to keep our sponsors, fans and community apprised of our thinking as we go forward.

Today, we are announcing we will be retiring the Redskins name and logo upon completion of this review.

Dan Snyder and Coach Rivera are working closely to develop a new name and design approach that will enhance the standing of our proud, tradition rich franchise and inspire our sponsors, fans and community for the next 100 years.

Edit, looks like some ass clown went and trademark numerous word mark's that could possibly be used.

If Warriors is offensive, how can it be the name of the Golden State NBA team without a peep? Is there a difference?

Though there are multiple people trying to do it, that one guy is just doing it on overload and steroids... trying to ensure he gets a pay day out of it.

The new team name should obviously be the Washington Covids. Make it happen Snyder.

I am curious, though, what the new name will be. And if things like Madden will be quick to change/adopt the new nickname. I would think they would have to. It should be easy for the NFL team sites to change because they all use the same set of digital logos.

Which as PFT pointed out, didn't official happen yet either, as they just said, they will be retired once they get a new one (which is always true), but it was them signaling that it is going to be going away.

Which sounds like if they already had the trademark and logo official and completely resolved they would of been out with it at the same time.

Sorry for the confusion. You're good stuff in my book. "Journalism" will always and forever ruffle my feathers. I feel the media has a responsibility and they drop the ball by being self serving rather than people serving.

I wonder if they will keep the HTTR then if they go with Redwolves. I have read quite a few people saying nickname X or nickname Y has nothing to do with DC or Virginia. I laugh because what the hell do the Lakers have to do with Los Angeles, for example. If the nickname had to be relevant to the area, the Minnesota Vikings would have be the Minnesote Chokers, or Chicago Bears be the Chicago DoubleDoinks. It's just a moniker. Pick one, make the uniforms cool and not ugly and let's rock!

That’s the problem with today’s “media”. Everyone wants to be first with the “scoop”, so they throw away any real reporting just to try to one up on their competition.
With computers, if you wait for anything to be verified, you will be the 1000th person to report anything.
And with the attention span (short) of people today, if the media screws it up, the people will forget about it and move onto the next big story by the next day.
So there is very little accountability for the reporter.
At least that’s how I see it.

Though if Redwolves are selected, they did talk about changing Hail to..... Howl to the Redwolves, which I thought was an improvement.

They also want to keep the fight song, but as a number of people have pointed out, the fight song was written by the wife of the possibility racist owner they're trying trying to semi-delete from their history, so that probably gone.

In traditionally red wolves are from that area.

But yeah I've thought it'd be funny if they pick Washington Rhynos. (Rinos) lol

Which was fine for most of the picks, but getting down to the end, between his company and the other Packers following paper, fans had figured out all 53 guys left.

But Tom Silverstein almost over the top insisted, that no sources other than his company can be trusted to find out the exact 53 guys left on the main roster after release day, which just rubbed a whole bunch of people the wrong way, as he kept telling people that it's not confirmed, when in reality it was confirmed, just not confirmed by you.

And I stayed because while I was annoyed at first, it become to be like watching a train wreak, where the public was informing him what was going on and he was in complete denial.

Point being, you have to trust some of your fellow professionals, as fans did nothing more by gather the information from two professional papers following the Packers and official accounts of players or professional writers in Twitter and the fans were right, while Tom Silverstein kept demanding nothing is official until his company says it's official, which is BS too.

So I can see the speed argument and verification going both ways.

dfosterf (25-Jul) : Probably a homer access credential intimidation kinda thing
dfosterf (25-Jul) : Meathead "journalists" skip this, concentrating on operational revenue when convenient. They switch when net revenue is more favorable.
dfosterf (25-Jul) : Resulting in an actual drop of net revenue of 12.5%. She is from Minnesota. Just sayin'
dfosterf (25-Jul) : Any plans to hold Maureen Smith (CFO) accountable for a 95% drop in investment revenue?
