So GB drafted no WRs. BIG DEAL !

Two undrafted WRs have joined the Packers so far this off season. I expect to see more and possibly some trades. That said, HC LaFleur's offensive system is heavier with the run and not so dependent on the pass. To address this system, GB has "beefed up" it's depth across the board with special focus on running the football. That said, The Packers are blessed to have a HOF QB that can still destroy defenses with his arm. GM Gutekunst is fully aware of the WR need and I believe has already begun to address it. It is just May folks! No reason to panic.

I find it curious that so many called for replacing Thompson and McCarthy, yet they are among the many of the ones complaining that things have changed and the GM/HC are not doing business as their predecessors did. Remember these new fellows took a faltering team (under McCarthy) and took the Packers to a 13-3 record last season that few thought possible as last season started.

Yes, Rodgers looks around him and see few faces that were there when he was a rookie. That is every NFL team.
Duhh !

Also, with Sports as it currently stands, and crumb of a story can expect to be spun out of control as they claw for something to report. They did the same thing last year as they tried to start a rift between Rodgers and LaFleur.

R-E-L-A-X

The sky is not falling and weaknesses from last years team, that went to the NFC Championship game, are being dealt with. Don't panic because concerns are not being worked through as in the past, this is no longer the TT/MC era.

We shall see....just a thought for the OL, is Jason Peters an option. He is 38 old but I think still PDG and would provide very solid depth at OT.

I am simply not ready to cede that rookies can’t contribute. That’s a very popular opinion for those people who want to cover for poor decisions. “Give him time, give him time.” then three years later “Everybody knew the guy was a project” or “ that’s old news, quit kicking a dead horse.”

Without seeing a single player perform I predict only 1 of the 3 linemen taken in the 6th round make the team. I am guessing Runyon makes it. Hanson is on the PS.

In the 7th, Garvin only makes it if they walk away from Montravius Adams but I think that will be after camp and preseason games.

They play different positions, Garvin will be battling for the 4th OLB spot.

The 3rd guy (From Indiana) was injured.
I saw where a couple of scouts had him graded as a 2nd or 3rd rnd pick before the injury.
Good future candidate, probably end up on IR for the year.

And it's not the rookie class. It's the vast separation the Packers and 49ers have. You didn't watch either of the complete and utter domination of the 2019, did you? If you did, how can you think any rookie would make a difference? Packers were picking back of each round. They weren't getting Chase Young.

I also didn't say rookies don't make an impact. I'm saying the impact they make isn't enough.

My hope is the Packers improve a bit in 2020 and the 49ers drop a ton in 2020, lol.

And if even if your theory was correct, what’s the point in waiting to address your needs? If you get an impact from a rookie immediately in a position of need, great. If not, year 2 will be next year and that player will be a step ahead of next year’s rookie. Why waste time just saying “there’s always next year, so we don’t need to address that right now since he won’t make an impact this year.” Or “maybe other teams will just get worse, let’s hope for that.” Well that’s not happening, teams like the 49ers, Eagles, Vikings, and Bears all got better this offseason. I’m not so sure that we did.

If you have one player with round one grade and it's not a need, you try to trade back to get more picks and if no suitable trade is presented, you take the player with the highest grade on your board. This isn't rocket science.

As I've said before. My personal preference would have been the Packers take that LB Patrick Queen solely on the notion I believe he'd have a helluva better chance at contributing to 2020 than a backup project QB. That being said, I understand the organization has to think BEYOND 2020 and if they truly feel this Jordan Love kid is the next great QB, then yeah, you have to pull the trigger on him.

As smarter people than myself have laid out for others, you do not know your 2020 needs in April. Who's to say the WR's we have take huge steps this season and Aaron Rodgers tears his ACL in his virtual OTA? Suddenly QB becomes a need. Wait, I'm sorry. Players improving from year one to year two, and year two to year three never happen. Players also never get injured.

To start with, I totally agree that the 2020 Packer Receivers (WR, TE, RB, and FB) need to improve over the 2019 crew. The question is how best to accomplish this and at the same time bolster the LaFleur Offensive system that will continue to stress the running game?

IMO, taking Jordan Love poses no threat to Aaron Rodgers at all. In fact it could turn out to be a move that will get praise for decades to come. No GB did not draft a 1st round WR or at all in the 2020 NFL Draft, they did however get a RB and a TE that can catch footballs. and strengthen the team at many other positions.

To many, especially the media, overlook that quitely WRs Devin Funchess and (R) Darrell Stewart have joined the Packer roster. Again, GM Gutekunst is showing that the draft is just one of the ways to build a winning team. It's still early in May and much time remains before TC and the start of the regular season. Gutekunst and LaFleur took a Packers team that faltered in 2018 and finished the 2019 season with a 13-3 record, a NFC North Title, and a trip to the NFC Championship game. I feel that I can trust people that can get that done. That said, Gutekunst is very aware of the less than top ranked WR production last season. Like the fellow that could both walk and eat an apple at the same time, Gutekunst can build both a running game and the WR game at the same time. I'm convinced that the talking heads in the media are not used to the way Gutekunst does business, but the resuluts have/will speak for itself.
