Personally, I don't think Jordan Love or Jalen Hurts are the answer and I suspect the Packers interest is a red herring.
But let's indulge this thought.
QB is the most important position on the field. If the team believes there is a franchise QB available, then they should pull the trigger. If that means trading Rodgers in 3 years, then so be it. We've seen this story before. While Rodgers could play into his 40s, that doesn't mean it's going to be with Green Bay.
What if Tua drops? I don't think it's likely, but here you have a clear cut top 5 or 10 pick a year ago. He falls because doctors didn't get a chance to examine him due COVID-19. Maybe GB got an earlier look at him before COVID hit and our doctor's signed off on him. Now you have a scenario where chance happened to allow a stud QB to drop in the draft. If I am Gute and I get the chance to jump New England to make my pick, then I have to do it - especially if my head coach believes in Tua.
Again, this pure speculation on my part. But Ron Wolf was bold when he traded a first round pick for Brett Favre, a backup in Atlanta. Ted Thompson was bold when he took Aaron Rodgers after already having Favre on the roster. Gute is cut from the same cloth as those guys and I suspect when he makes a move for a QB, it will be bold.
