Tyler Goodson makes the Packers’ 53-man roster
How much of a bold prediction is it if Kylin Hill is on the PUP with an ACL injury. Patrick Taylor on PUP with an injury as well.
It's Goodson and BJ Baylor fighting for the 3rd spot. The only bold assumption is that the Packers don't go with 2 RB for a couple of weeks while they wait for Taylor to get up to speed.
Romeo Doubs is the best rookie receiver at training campAgain very low hanging fruit. Watson is on the PUP. Not much of a chance to wow the Packers Brass from the trainer's table. His competition is 7th round pick Samori Toure, UDFA Danny Davis and USFL Osirus Mitchell. Not a very high bar to clear. If you really want to be bold then say it is for the whole season. Don't limit it to rookies only. Something. Be bold.
Josiah Deguara doesn’t make the roster.Ok. This is a little more bold. But considering it's Josiah's 3rd season and he hasn't done much as of yet it still isn't all that bold. Even so I will disagree. There is no question that Josiah needs to produce this year. I say he gets that chance. Unless he is a terrible flop in camp.
Zach Tom wins a starting jobNice and bold. Sort of. Bak and Jenkin's injuries open the door for 2 players to step up to start on the OL. It's a 50% probability the rookie gets the call so it's a little bold. Still kind of tepid.
Packers sign a veteran pass rusher
It's a bold prediction. Also not out of character with what Gute has done in the past. My guess is they wait. Wait until after the opening day roster is set. Wait until after the modifications to the opening day roster are made. Wait for a game or two then see who is still available.
Packers keep seven wide receiversSigh, again not very bold. Looking at the WR that are on the roster, if they are all healthy which is a big IF, I can't see how they don't keep 7. Toure and Mitchell are ST candidates and will be in the 7th position unless injuries move them up.
Packers only keep five cornerbacksI've seen others make this prediction too. So, if others are saying the same thing, is it really bold? Probably not. While it is true they usually keep 6 CB the bottom CBs are not all that exciting. After JA, Stokes and Douglas we are looking at Jean-Charles, Ento and ST player Keisean Nixon. If they keep 5 it's Ento that would most likely be dropped. Street FA's Ricco Gafford, Donte Vaughn and Kiondre Thomas would have to wow them like Williams and Shields did when they made the roster as street FAs back in the day.
In short, I don't necessarily disagree with some of his comments. I do disagree that these are bold predictions. They seem rather lukewarm at best.
Then again, the Packers team is so solid there is not much to predict outside of the bottom of the roster and whether or not players on the PUP will be back before the season is more than 6 weeks old.
