Doesn't matter to me. Gute & Co thought he was expendable. I'm ok with that.

Sounds like Martinez is complaining that GB put him a bad position but that position was to follow up whatever the Smith Bros (and I would imagine Clark too) were doing, but what's there to complain about there? Also, did Martinez give a spin to explain the amount of zone coverage GB ran in pass situations? You know, in order to coverup the fact that he couldn't run with TEs or cover guys coming out of the backfield?

To me, it sounds like the edge rushers got two way go basically, and Martinez was told to the gap they don't go.

But maybe they didn't trust King one on one, and/or thought zone would make the QB hold it longer and more time for the pass rush to get there.

Well they put him in position to make a bunch of tackles which is what so many of the people who think he's great are quick to point out. Quite the conundrum …. is his tackles a good or bad thing?

Example, 2 tackles for -2 yards each might be better than 6 tackles 8 yards down field each.

Also for people in coverage, sometimes people hype a DB for huge tackles numbers, but the first thing you have to ask is how was his coverage, because sometimes bad coverage leads to HUGE tackle numbers as you're giving up the catch and just tackling him after he gained 8+ yards, too many of those is not winning.

And cleaning up for other guys misses, blown mistakes etc, might not be your fault that they're so far down the field.

I remember one time, Packers gave up a VERY LONG touchdown where S Bigby was running behind the guy, and we all (including myself), started bad mouthing Bigby and how slow he was.

But among review of that play after the game, that wasn't Bigby's fault at all, Bigby was supposed to be on complete other side of the field, and Nick Collins completely blew the coverage.... I was more surprised that Bigby realized it IMMEDIATELY and really hustled his butt over there to get close... he just didn't have the pure speed to run the guy down, but great effort Bigby.

Point being, that would of been a huge play down the field and that would of been a great tackle by Bigby if he could have made it.

Well....no surprise that Martinez would spin things to make himself look better.
He obviously thought he was somehow slighted by the Packers.

Either way, I just didn't expect that from Blake.

Also note, that in one of the articles, it almost sounded like it was fairly brief time talking about this, so I'm assuming very little of the conversation was this, just this is being blown up as being more interesting part to Packers fans.

Also note, (at least in my opinion) nothing he said was wrong...

He feels his value is more than the Packers offered (lots of employees feel that way about their employers, even in the NFL).

He doesn't feel the Packers value ILBers as much as other teams (I think I've said in the past, that I'm not sure the ILBer role in this defense is as valuable or as important as ILBers in other schemes, where as CB and DL are more important).

He was asked to let the edge rushers be the aggressive playmakers and clean up after them, which I don't think many will have a problem with that, it just sucks that he got less chances to actually be a playmaker himself, but you got to make decisions on scheme and he played his role.

This last part is the most interesting part, not because anything is wrong with it, but an insight into the scheme.

I'm not positive what it means, but I'm thinking it means the edge rushers would given options to do what they thought was best, and whatever they didn't do, Martinez was asked to do the opposite.

So if Z stayed on the outside, Martinez held the run gap on the inside, and if he crashed inside, Martinez had to get outside run gap.

Not bad to give your smart playmakers options, though if Martinez role is simply to react and get their fast, someone with more speed would be nice. But I would this that would also really help the Safeties that are trying to play LB as the ILBers had very little depth.

Zero2Cool (11h) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (15h) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (15h) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16h) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16h) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16h) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16h) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16h) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16h) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16h) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16h) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16h) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (17h) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (17h) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (17h) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (17h) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (19h) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (19h) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (19h) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
wpr (9-Apr) : yay
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Mark Murphy says Steelers likely to protect Packers game. Meaning, no Ireland
Zero2Cool (8-Apr) : Struggling to figure out what text editor options are needed and which are 'nice to have'
Mucky Tundra (8-Apr) : *CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP*
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : WR who said he'd break Xavier Worthy 40 time...and ran slower than you
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Who?
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Texas’ WR Isaiah Bond is scheduled to visit the Bills, Browns, Chiefs, Falcons, Packers and Titans starting next week.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Spotting ball isn't changing, only measuring distance is, Which wasn't the issue.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : The spotting of the ball IS the issue. Not the chain gang.
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Will there be a tracker on the ball or something?
