There are a few teams to be a fan of if you love constant big name free agency signings! The Skins would be perfect! Or the Patriots! Be happy and root for a team you actually like!

The Packers currently have 69 players on their roster. This consists of 34 draft picks, 2 traded, 3 from waivers and 30 from free agency.

30 out of 39 players were from free agency! Two of them which were before Thompson got here.

What do you make of this?

The team has been built without sacrificing any future years. If the scouting for the draft and FA is good and our team is competitive and successful, it means they will be competitive and successful steadily for years. All we don't see is a "we must win it now and only now, screw the future" mentality, imho.

I have never been attracted to the "sign a big name guy" mentality. I would much rather see an improvement in the way the team develops the guys that we draft. It takes longer but it's the best way to build a franchise that can be successful over a long period of time. Hopefully all of the defensive and str/conditioning coaches we hired this offseason can get it done. I think it was the right way to go.

Sorry Steve i have to disagree on this one, that was the way to do it back in the 70's and 80's when there wasn't a free agency, that just don't work in this day and age. With free agency you will always be losing players to it no matter what so if we stay with the Ted Thompson plan we will always be rebuilding IMO.

We haven't really lost that many big name players to free agency under Ted Thompson, so your point is invalid. Ted doesn't grab a lot of players from the FA list, but usually gives a guy an extension or re-signs them before anyone else does.

Finny we really don't have any big name players to lose lol. I won't be surprised to see Jennings leave the team, or the likes of Collins and Williams. I hope Jennings don't go but it wouldn't surprise me.

Up until just last 2 years did NE go after those higher priced f/a

and i do not think Pitt even went after those guys

If Ted hasn't let any big players go yet, what makes you think he'll suddenly do an exception on Jennings, Collins and Williams. Makes no sense. Mention three big players we have lost to free agency (to counter-act the three big players we have gotten out of FA; Tramon, Pickett and Woodson) and I will withdraw my point.

What have the Colts and Steelers been doing?

Last year, all 22 starters on the Colts had not played a snap on any other team. Their biggest FA signing in the past few years was a kicker.

beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job

Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
