I hated the 2015 draft. Ted rook long shots time and time again.

IMO, while history should serve as an aid to future endeavors, dwelling on the past does not serve a good purpose sometimes. Unless it serves a real benefit today and moving forward, let's please not play the blame game. It only fosters negative feelings and I believe that we need the positive feelings that I believe that the future is bringing.

My opinion is just that, my opinion. It is not meant as an attack or put down. I just want to see more positive post moving forward.

[cheers]

Just busting your chops Smokey. I agree it serves no purpose but I think you know as well as I do that some people won't let any opportunity go to put down whoever they think was at fault.

Besides, it's kind of hard to find anything positive that came out of that draft. We did get Kizer...I'll wait for the applause to stop... and two draft picks in the trades for Monty (2020) and Hundley (6th rounder this year) so if you want to play connect the dots there is still some hope.

I feel like this is a very poor clickbait title, because with the exception of the 1st round picks all rookie draft picks contracts are 4 years long ...

So every single year, every single team, doesn't have players under future contract unless they accepted the 1st round picks options.

So in 2021, this will still be true because the Packers had no 1st round pick in 2017 draft, no matter how the draft turns out, though it's been questionable so far...

But to the bigger point... Yeah the 2015 draft was bad for the Packers... and it's too bad we couldn't keep Randall and move him to FS, where it sounds like he is doing better, but sounded like he wore out his welcome.

Now if Rollins and Randall and Monty and Hundley Rip, Ringo and Backman had all played out their contracts and were free agents your point would have more merit.

Mike McCarthy is known for not letting his position coaches interview for coordinator jobs, that is why Alex Van Pelt didn't sign an extension and that is why he went elsewhere. It was not because Van Pelt wanted to leave, it was because Van Pelt wanted to ascend his career.

I think the problem with the 2015 draft was people were saying WTF while the draft was happening. I remember our chat was absolutely stunned with the first 2 selections.

Many pundits and fans were thinking Erick Kendricks and we ended up drafting a safety to play CB and a converted basketball player in the second round. Kendricks turned out to be a great pick for our rivals and we ended up with a guy playing out of position that had issues in the locker room.

Looking through the draft there were not many great players that year. Unfortunately, you can be sure when the fans and draftniks draft you better players than the ones the GM picked you are gonna hear about it.

It is the same reason why everyone is so hard on Kevin King. The fan base wanted Watt. If the fan base thinks they draft better than the GM we have a problem.

Every GM has good AND bad drafts, including Ted.
What bothered me was his lack of going after free agents that could have pushed us over the top several years.
The year we went 15-1, had we filled a couple holes on defense and even had an “average “ defense, we could have won it all.

But some theories revolve around the facts that Madison's former teammate (and reportedly Madison's best friend) committed suicide with a former teammates gun. The gun owner reportedly had no knowledge that the guy had his gun. Madison is a very avid hunter (sometimes with guns).

The rest is speculation, other than I believe Madison was out of town/state doing football work the week of the incident.

Some are wanting to connect those dots, others don't... but either way, he should get the benefit of the doubt until we know more.
