Sschind, I suppose you are right that all of those articles lack the "straight from the horses mouth" words.

I had hoped splitting those posts off into its own topic would create some fun scenarios for acquiring Mack. Sometimes it works, sometimes it blows up in your face. 🤷

Even that Mike Florio is getting on the Mack being traded stuff.

I don't care who is reporting it...there is not a chance in hell they are going to sign Mack until they have a deal with AROD first:
1. They aren't going to sign the guy without extending him, and that would be huge numbers.
2. Giving up 2 first rounders, when they may not have even one back-up for #12 on the roster, is dumb.
3. No one on this team will make anything remotely in the neighborhood of AROD.
Then only plausible scenario is packaging Matthews, who is in a contact year. But even then, they aren't likely to do it because of the reasons cited above

When I first thought of the possibility of Mack being here I was very excited.
Now looking at it realistically, I don’t think the Packers would be able, or even willing to do what it would take to get him here. I think they are willing to just go with what they have, and pick up so-so players to fill holes.
I don’t see them going after star players.
JMO of course.

The key to winning Super Bowls seems to be to have many contributing players on rookie contracts. I just see the possibility to have 2 first round picks as possible contributors very tempting to hold onto. Drafting an OLB and an OT in the first round next year could go a long way for setting us up for years to come. I understand Mack is a sure thing, but losing the draft capital to me is a bit much especially when we need to find a replacement for Bulaga, Matthews and for Cobb if none of the rookies stand out.

But I'm skeptical that will happen, and even if it does, it could take 2-3 years for those players to really develop.

Even if Mack was an option, I wouldn't give two firsts. That's just too steep. I think one first with a condition of whichever first ends up the highest pick, plus a player, plus a 2nd or a 3rd + late round draft pick is as high as I would go. Anything else is just too much considering the huge contract he will get. After all, the contract is the only reason the Raiders are considering getting rid of him right? It's certainly not due to this performance. It's almost a certainty that no player in the draft will contribute as much as Mack will over the next 2-3 seasons. I also hear he's a great teammate, a leader, etc. What more can you ask for?

I also think that while he's definitely one of the best at what he does right now, that he is not a generational type talent like Aaron Donald.

I just have a hard time thinking we will have Bulaga and his $8.4M cap hit on our roster next year (dead cap $1.6M). Who knows maybe he will be healthy all year just to prove me wrong. I really think we need to find a starting RT in next year's draft. The more early round draft capital we give up the harder that player will be to find.

If he has his heart set on staying with Raiders (who are ditching Oakland and their HC says they weren't good with him) then I think it's harder to acquire him.

Contractually, I don't think it'd be too difficult when you look at the Packers future salary caps.

Some folks say "no damn way until Aaron Rodgers gets his contract" will we be able to sign Mack. You telling me 34 year old Aaron Rodgers is gonna say, nah, don't be signing Khahil Mack until you do me first! Hell no. He (I am assuming based off all the stuff he's said) would say "hey I'm under contract, let's bring him on and win another Super Bowl". I could be wrong with that assumption.

I still beat the drum of give Aaron a 10 year $150 million guaranteed contract. Sure, he averages only $15 a year (only narrow minded people focus on that anyway), but he's guaranteed $150 million. It's a win-win for both Packers and Rodgers.

Packers can package a 1st round (2019), 3rd round (2019 that can go up to 2nd round) plus someone like WR Trevor Davis or some other young WR.

Love the long contract plan. We're going to suck when he is gone anyway. Might as well pay him long after he is gone to win now. That is how Denver should have done it with Peyton and the bikes with Favre. It's how the pats should be doing it now with Brady and the saints with brees.
