I generally agree with this IF the staff is competent at drafting star players. They could just as easily draft busts, which could set back things for years through the remainder of Aaron Rodgers career. As long as they turn those first round picks into very good players, I'd much prefer the picks. But I'm skeptical that will happen, and even if it does, it could take 2-3 years for those players to really develop.
Even if Mack was an option, I wouldn't give two firsts. That's just too steep. I think one first with a condition of whichever first ends up the highest pick, plus a player, plus a 2nd or a 3rd + late round draft pick is as high as I would go. Anything else is just too much considering the huge contract he will get. After all, the contract is the only reason the Raiders are considering getting rid of him right? It's certainly not due to this performance. It's almost a certainty that no player in the draft will contribute as much as Mack will over the next 2-3 seasons. I also hear he's a great teammate, a leader, etc. What more can you ask for?
