Thanks Ron Wolf for Mike Holmgren. Thanks Ron Wolf for Brett Favre. Thanks Ron for Reggie White. Thanks Ron, blah blah blah. YOU LOST THE SUPERBOWL TO THE MOTHERF***ING DENVER DONKEYS!

I don't think Ron was ever on the field for that game.

Fart in the wind.

I still don't know WTF Ted has done. Playoff team, four years later, 3rd in a four team race. WTF!

He has set up for years with all the young players and we have like $30 million under the cap. Thats what he has done. He has drafted like 95% of the starters for the team.

More like:

Offense
QB: Ted Thompson
RB: Ted Thompson
FB: Ted Thompson
WR: Ted Thompson
WR: MS
TE: Ted Thompson
LT: MS
LG: Ted Thompson
C: MS
RG: Ted Thompson
RT: MS

Defense (last year's 4-3)
DE: MS
DT: Ted Thompson
DT: Ted Thompson
DE: MS
OLB: Ted Thompson
MLB: MS
OLB: Ted Thompson
CB: MS
CB: Ted Thompson
FS: Ted Thompson
SS: Ted Thompson

Total starters: 22, 14 of them from Ted Thompson (63.6%). Surprising isn't it?

Actually the two tackles and Driver are Ron Wolf holdovers.

You are correct. I probably should have just put non-Ted Thompson draftees/pickups

I completely agree Packer98. I just like to tell it like it is. I don't have blind hatred towards anyone. If Ted Thompson's team doesn't win, he shouldn't remain hired.

"dhazer" wrote:

I'm glad you get it. This is Ted's team. It is THAT group that failed to reach the playoffs this year.

It's quite funny as I remember conversations years ago on the old packerforum. Most said we would see a championship team in 2009-2010. Now we are saying "give it time". "Wait til next year" can go on forever, ask the Browns.

Ted has accomplished squat. People pointing to the team's starters being brought in by Ted further my point.

If I own a business and I put 52 people in positions and we fail year after year does that mean I am a braniac just because I have bodies in the positions?

The results are all you need to see. Thanks Ted, we have lots of cap room. Thanks Ted, we have young players. Thanks Ted, The stadium never looked better. Thanks Ted, the uniforms are beautiful. Thanks Ted, blah blah blah. HOW ABOUT WINNING SOME DAMN GAMES!!!!!

Ted Thompson really failed in '07. Talk about year after year. You guys need to give it a rest and stop hating on him for the Favre situation. He was right...admit it.

The Favre situation???

Who's talking about Brett Favre??

I disapproved of Ted's approach LONG before the Brett thing. Get your facts straight.

Ted did fail in 07 and REALLY failed in 08. When a team goes BACKWARDS then you make a comment like "he was right, admit it" I can't help but be confused.

Ted = 0 Championships..........but hey, we have lots of cap space we can use on roster fodder to back up Justin Harrell.

Minimal Talent, piss poor coaching is this teams problem, period

Does anyone have figures on TT's performance after 4 years with a team, compared to other, current GMs?

dd80 mentioned that Ted has 0 champsionships. I also wonder how many GMs have championships in their first 4 years with a team. I suspect that it's not many.

Yeah the Championship arguement is a bit ridiculous. Green Bay has zero titles since Ted Thompson took over, but only three teams have titles since Pittsburgh has won two since he took over as GM for the Pack.

What is telling is that this team has one winning season under his watch. His philosophy is starting to get old in my opinion. He needs to go into free agency. Even now, Green Bay can still upgrade the team. Vonnie Holiday anyone? However, he won't because it's a matter of philosophy and stubbornness.

The downfall of Thompson if it happens can be summed up like this.

He has a one year offer on the table for Michael Montgomery yet they're showing little interest in Vonnie Holiday.

I hate to look at it simply like this, but I'm using dd80 logic.

I also never said "Ted was right in '08". I blame him for:

1) The lack of depth on the d-line.
2) Letting MM keep the same defensive staff (I never liked Bob Sanders and his simple scheme - any good offense knew pretty well how to get around it).
3) His part of the Favre debacle. Way too much of a distraction.
4) Letting MM shuffle around the o-line instead of anchoring the five and going with it.
5) Extending Ryan Grant creating a domino effect this year with Tramon Williams (should have let Brandon Jackson play and Grant sit out - I think he is just as talented)

There you go.

Actually, Ron Wolf wasn't hired until late in the season (Nov. 27) in 1991. So his record in his first 4 seasons was actually 38-26. If you want to count the last 4 games of 1991, he was 39-29.

Ron Wolf got so incredibly lucky with the Brett pick. He got lucky to the point of it being a GD miracle. Brilliant move? Bullshit. It was either stupid or arrogant, imo. Favre showed arm strength, and that was it. What he had shown was less than Brian Brohm, which is an excellent example for comparison. Favre's first pass in Atlanta was a touchdown, to be sure...unfortunately it would be for the opposition. No one had a clue where the ball was going when he put it up in the air, including himself. Favre was a drunk and lazy, but I suspect that Wolf didn't know about that part.

The equivalent would be if someone offered us their 1st round pick for Brohm right now. Anyone on this site going to say, "Oh NO! ...He's the next Brett Favre!" Don't do THAT trade! 2nd round pick (Favre was 33rd pick, I believe) The biggest difference between the two is that apparently Brohm isn't a drunk or lazy. They were both third-string quarterbacks after their first year.

God looks out for drunks and fools, and it's obvious God was smiling on Ron and the Green Bay Packers that day.

If Ted ever pulled that kind of shit, everyone would run him out on a rail long before he could be proven right or wrong.

So......in the what, 16 years Brett Favre was here, we had what, ONE championship? That was what, 5 years after he got here? And none after?
So......if we get ONE SB win in say, the next 12 years, then Ted Thompson is as good as Ron Wolf and any other GM or coach we have had since 1992, right?
After all....like you said....the ONLY thing that matters is championships, right?
Just using your "logic".

I think if Ted Thompson DOES get run out by this hyper-vocal minority, the next GM should sign every free agent available and destroy the team's financial situation for a decade. That's how annoying this is all getting. EVERY thread ends up like this. And why, this year? Because we didn't sign Kevin motherf*cking Burnett or Igor lazy ass Olshansky to ridiculously inflated deals? Because Canty wanted to stay in the NFC East? Are you KIDDING me?? Please tell me you are kidding me. Packer fandom has become the whiniest bunch of malcontents I hear from in the NFL. Lions fans handle their joke of a GM better than we handle our GM who won NFL executive of the year a few years ago. I'm starting to become ashamed of the fanbase all over again, as I was during Favregate, and the negativity that is being pounded into our senses by this small group of irrationally pissed off fans is going to eventually have an effect on the franchise, mark my words.
