I like Lacy......if he could just remain HEALTHY!
He's either out of shape, or gets hurt. You can't depend on someone that's always injured.
If he can stay on the field, and out of McDonald's, he would be a great guy to keep.

Datone has had only one year standing up, and he looked pretty decent, all things considered. I make him an offer. He's still ascending as an OLB.

The play I remember most was against Philadelphia, Wentz came out of the gate pretty strong against us but then Datone crushed him in the ribs right when he was getting the ball off in like the 1st or 2nd Quarter and he looked like he just wanted to go home after that. There's no stat for that play but it counted for something.

I'm fine with bring back Jones as a cheap rotational guy.

Nice post Beast, but I want your opinion too!😂

I think the Packers will feel the need to get Nick Perry and Jared Cook resigned as they need as much pass rush as they can get and because Cook really helped open up their offense.

I also think the Packers will focus on getting Lang and/or Tretter resigned. I think we all want Lang resigned. It'd be nice to have both resigned, and keep our depth there, but one might be leaving via FAs.

After that I think Hyde shouldn't be overlooked because his versatility frees up a lot of options including using him at CB or Burnett at the hybrid LB position.

I think Mason Crosby pitch for resigning LS Brett Goode is important... Crosby basically said, he's never seen Goode mess up a single snap... not even in practice... I don't know if what Crosby said is true, but I don't remember ever seeing a bad one from Goode and I saw multiple bad snaps in a couple of different games this season. A good long snapper is important to have.

I could see the Packers/Lacy agreeing to a one year prove it type deal like Perry got... with some clauses about being in shape or under a certain weight etc etc.

RB Christine Michael has some nice physical skill, but I still have big questions about him, like why didn't the Packers ever seem to fully trust him to give him more chances? or more drives? It just felt like, they didn't mentally trust him or something... and maybe it's simply because he came in mid season and isn't a fast learner... though some rumors suggested he never fully picked up the Seahawks system (audibles/blocking/other stuff) even after years being there. So I'd like to see him back, but I think there is a reason no one has invested that much into him since the draft... I would want to know more (which the Packers surely do since he has been on the team)... but I'd want the RB coach opinion.

Also Datone might be had at a good price and MM did have very nice things to say about him after the Seahawks game... maybe Datone just needs more time at the new position, I think I'd try to get a muliyear deal at a cheap rate.

Keep all the RFAs and ERFA other than maybe Tripp (I'm okay with keeping him, just maybe not at the RFA tag price... offer him minimum).

These are the Packers FAs (according to spotrac).

Who do you want the Packers to resign?

UFAs will hit the open market (though one can be slapped with a franchise tagged which comes which a huge pay day).
UFA
RB Eddie Lacy
RB Christine Michael
TE Jared Cook
OG T.J. Lang
OC J.C. Tretter
OL Don Barclay
OLB Nick Perry
OLB Julius Peppers
OLB Datone Jones
DB Micah Hyde
LS Brett Goode

RFAs, need a tender placed on them (usually original round tender get placed on them), if they don't get a tender offered to them, then they also hit the open market.
RFA
OLB Jayrone Elliot
ILB Jordan Tripp
P Jake Schum

ERFAs, basically have to resign with the Packers, unless the Packers don't want them.
ERFA
RB John Crockett
RB Don Jackson
FB Joe Kerridge
ILB Joe Thomas
DL Christian Ringo

UFA
Should try and get signed before Free Agency starts.
TE Jared Cook
OG T.J. Lang
OC J.C. Tretter
OLB Nick Perry
OLB Datone Jones
DB Micah Hyde
LS Brett Goode

Let player test market, make a fair offer, let player decide.
RB Eddie Lacy
RB Christine Michael
OL Don Barclay
OLB Julius Peppers

Bring them back, no tags needed.
RFA
OLB Jayrone Elliot
ILB Jordan Tripp
P Jake Schum

Bring them back let them compete for roster spot.
ERFAs, basically have to resign with the Packers, unless the Packers don't want them.
ERFA
RB John Crockett
RB Don Jackson
FB Joe Kerridge
ILB Joe Thomas(performed well enough to be signed to a 3 year deal now, will cost less money now)
DL Christian Ringo

In order of priority...

1. Jared Cook - First TE to make an impact in this offense since Jermichael Finley.

2. J.C. Tretter - Place at guard to replace T.J. Lang, who I think will depart.

3. Micah Hyde - Swiss Army Knife (Special Teams, Slot CB, & Safety)

4. Eddie Lacy - The Packers need balance going into next season.

5. Jayrone Elliot - I think it's time for him to emerge.

6. T.J. Lang - Turns 30 in September, and the price might be too steep. I rather spend the money on a free agent CB.

7. Nick Perry - I worry about about him after he gets his payday.

8. Julius Peppers - Leadership in the locker room. What does he offer on the field?

9. Datone Jones - Maybe give him a one-year deal?

10. Christine Michael - A backfield trio of Lacy, Montgomery, and Michael wouldn't be too bad.

11. Don Barclay - I honestly don't care.

12. Brett Goode - A long snapper isn't going to make or break the season.

I'm overly optimistic about his ability and this defense NEEDS players to make plays even if they are constantly flukes.

IMO, this is the most relevant and currently the most important thread in the Packershome Forum right now. According to the Acme Packing Co. site, GB will have 20 free agents from the 2016 roster to deal with. With Shields and Starks gone , it may now be just 18 players.

Porkey88 has the right idea, but I'd like to read your's . Keep, trade, release, Many decisions that the Packers will have to make .

My question with the idea of Tretter replacing Lang is can we Trust Tretter to stay healthy? Lang gets injured is able to keep playing, Tretters injuries have taken him out for a good while.

Plus it would be nice to keep both, Lang could stay at RG while Tretter and/or Spriggs could challenge Taylor at LG.

Might not be possible.

I think you have to go with youth first, get Tretter signed, then work on Lang.

Lang may end up testing the FA waters, if that happens, hopefully he ends up in Green Bay.

Barclay becomes important if Tretter does start somewhere other than Center on the line.

Barclay would become the backup at guard and center.

The dominoes will start to fall soon.
