One thing I see missing is having somebody on the sidelines from the coaching staff that keeps or gets the players fired up. Last time I can think of having somebody to do that was Kevin Greene. McCarthy doesn't have that personality and Dom sits in the booth. Somebody besides the players needs to keep the energy flowing on the sidelines.

That rather than a tyrant that rules with fear and intimidation.

I'll agree that GB needs a change at Defensive Coordinator as well as a new GM.

I still say GB's greatest need is at the CB /s position !

Draft, trade, hire a free agent or any combination, but GB needs CB's that are lightning fast, smart, and physical.

The Offense, healthy and ready to compete , will carry forward as long as their are no drastic off-season changes.

Other Defensive changes need to take place as well, but first, FIX THE CB/s POSITION !

Last nights SB gave a full blown illustration of what a pass rush does for a defense.
1st half the Falcons are all up in Brady and what does he do? Not much of nothing. Misses his receivers, throws a pick 6, and generates virtually no offense.
2nd half the Falcons start to get tired due to a lack of depth and continually seeing the field and they don't get to Brady. What's he do? Carves them to pieces.
I read an article before the SB on how the Packers should follow the Falcons blueprint on building a defense through speed and listed all of the CB's and DB's 40 times. Well, it didn't do them jack when their pass rush went away.
The Packers CB's are young. Young corners need the help of a good pass rush. They will go as the pass rush goes. Clay and Julius are past their prime. There were far to many games where they didn't get it done and once again reared it's ugly head against Atlanta. The changes need to come there first.

We can't forget that before last year, the secondary was hardly a position of need. It was so good, we let guys like Jumal Rolle go. Damarious Randall had a successful rookie season (he was better than Hayward, who also had his share of injury problems), while Quentin Rollins and LaDarius Gunter were both serviceable.

For some reason or another, after Sam Shields went down -- they ALL REGRESSED. It goes to show that you can never have too many corners. The messed up part was that Hayward signed a pretty cheap contract with San Diego, when he easily could've been kept.

The most pressing need on the defense, in my opinion, is a consistent pass rush. I don't know about you guys, but while I understand Clay Matthews has been hurt most of the season (honestly, when is he not hurt?), he just isn't the dominant pass rusher he once was. His leadership style has always been passive aggressive. He's not what Wood was. Peppers is looked at for leadership too, but he's hardly ever on the field. This defense needs a Mike Daniels on every level of the defense, and we don't have one. They're all super content with diving at players' shoestrings to make tackles when they should all stiffen up like Daniels, Matthews and Ryan by wrapping up the ball carrier.

You look at Eric Kendricks in Minnesota, whom I really wanted last year, and it sucks seeing them benefit from such a dynamic set of skills.

Steve ain't joking like you were with Jumal Rolle.

When you have no leaders on D and your DC is on the verge of a nap, there's a huge void. Defense especially is about passion. Watching Nick Perry giving the pre game pep talk was a major letdown. Totally uninspiring to me so I doubt the team got up listening to him.

Need more passion and intelligence on this team along with leadership. Hard to come by when your goal is always to have the league's youngest roster.

Our management is the player equivalent of Micah Hyde. Just not enough there to even see changes need to be made much less make them.

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

Yeah if our defense gets a punch in the mouth early they give up. If the offense doesn't protect them the whole game they also give up. If the offense is rolling (or the other teams offense is garbage) and there's no pressure on them they get stops and force turnovers and generally play like they give a shit.
