Ah, yes, the BLAME game. Held by most of those whom think winning a Super Bowl is easy, lol. Maybe it is? I mean, Falcons went 4 - 12, 6 - 10, 8 - 8 and then 11 - 5 and are now into the Super Bowl. Sure, those early draft picks may have helped, but lets be real. Most players are not that far apart in talent and its the coaching staff that utilizes their talent and maximizes their abilities while coaching them up.
We don't have Nick Collins elite closing speed and smarts to cover up the shortcomings of the defensive scheme. Yeah, holding onto Mason Crosby was a good move, sure. But the loyalty to Dom Capers is costing this team a lot of potential. (just my opinion)
I believe if we had Wade Philips from 2011 and on, we would have two Super Bowl wins more than we do now.
If I'm going to play the blame game, I'm solely pointing the finger at Dom Capers. I'm also going to point a huge finger at the Strength and Conditioning staff. Yes, most injuries are bad luck, but I believe (could be wrong) a lot of hamstring pulls, soft tissue injuries could be prevented with extensive stretching and core muscle building.
Ted Thompson is at the top, so people take the easy way out and say him. It's not him. The talent is there.
Mike McCarthy is the head coach, so people want to say its him. It's not him. The offense is good to great.
The defense in an offensive driven league is vastly sub-par.
