Packer fans are some of the most passionate about their team as you'll find.

However 25 years of consistent success has left some of them spoiled rotten with some unrealistic expectations. Dominance of this magnitude doesn't last forever and when the dark days do come like they did in the 70's/80's you guys will be praying for playoffs even harder than you now demand superbowls.

We are so close yet my candle is flickering and I want my beloved Packers to win one more Lombardi in my lifetime.
I want to see more urgency to win it all.
I think Aaron Rodgers is the last great hope in my short years left and his clock is ticking as well.
Ted Thompson shows me no urgency to get over the top.

Thanks for not disappointing me iso.

I lived through the 70s and 80s teams. Don't tell me how I will feel when we slip back into mediocrity. Or how I will long for these days again.

You have totally missed the point that I, Wade, Yooper and others have expressed time and time again. There is no point in trying to explain it to you yet again so I will simply say this- Expressing one's desire that the team try and do everything possible to excel is not being spoiled rotten. Clearly Uncle Teddy has not every single thing possible. He will even admit to it.(If he cared what we thought and bothered to talk to the masses.) He has his idea of how to build a team. We have expressed a desire for him to do something more in order to boost the team up a little higher. He says no. We think it is wrong. He has the keys and the checkbook so he wins. Nevertheless we can still have our own ideas and opinions and still be considered loyal Packer fans.

You, Wade, and Yooper can applaud each other's posts over and over again but it doesn't change that you boys are spoiled rotten. Only a few teams can boast they've been to as many superbowls as the Packers since Favre showed up, two+ decades of dominating the division. Look at how many titles the rest of the division has won since then, compare the Packers winning percentage or the number of times they've made the playoffs and it stacks up with the best of them.

The average fan would be thrilled with the success the Packers have had, you're the exceptions.

I don't know if I "appreciate" the Packers but I sure do "obsess" over them.

Anyway, if others want to celebrate NFC North Titles (other than last year) over the woeful Lions, moribund Bears (will remain that way until Cutler departs), and dysfunctional Vikes (though not so much under Zimmer), that is your prerogative.

I, for one, believe Aaron Rodgers has been the best QB in the NFL the past 7 years and we have one Super Bowl appearance to show for it (and what a sweet win it was). I appreciate that Super Bowl win.

I remain underwhelmed by the early playoff losses (except in 2014 in Seattle - a particularly difficult member), which I've pretty much come to expect at this point.

When Rodgers has retired and we scratch and claw for every victory behind some pedestrian QB, I'll be thrilled with a 10-6 record and a playoff birth. With Aaron Rodgers in his prime, that seems an awfully low goal to attain.

Oh well, Ted Thompson will have us well under the salary cap and one of the youngest squads around again next year. Yippee.

Some of us may never again see the Packers so close to the holy grail once Aaron Rodgers is gone.

We are absolutely spoiled and we shouldn't apologize for it. It is just naive to think you can have Brett Favre for 16 seasons followed up with Aaron Rodgers and somehow think you've not been spoiled as a fan of that team.

I got into the Packers during the '89 season so I haven't had to endure the dog days of 2 - 14 where during the exhibition season the only glimmer of hope was "hey, there is always next season!".

Fact is, few fans are showing they even realize what the Packers have accomplished and gloss over it with their unrealistic expectations. The only, and I mean ONLY, perk to winning your division is you're locked into a home-field playoff game meaning you are one of six. That is it. That is absolutely the only worthwhile thing to fans.

The Packers way of doing things has worked and has them in the hunt. You want to bitch about not winning the Super Bowl more than once over that span, look at the damn coaching! Super Bowl XXXII was a coaching debacle! 2014 NFC Championship game, another coaching debacle! Coaching (lack thereof) and failure to adapt is what is hurting this current team.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Mike McCarthy needs to go if they do not win the Super Bowl this season. It's not saying he's a bad coach, it's saying he's no longer the RIGHT coach.

With Aaron Rodgers getting nearer to the end of his career, I'm feeling more and more that Ted and Mike McCarthy better do something big NOW, while they have a chance to win another SB or 2.
I have a feeling that in the not so distant future that it will be like what I remember in the 1970's and 80's. And I'm getting nearer to the end of my life, and I'd like to enjoy another GREAT season or two.

I still remember (I think it was 1993) when we FINALLY got back to the playoffs and beat the Lions in Detroit. At that time, that was enough to MORE then satisfy me. Just to see MY team back in the playoffs.
Now of course, expectations are much higher. Just getting there doesn't do it anymore.
I love "my" Green Bay Packers. Whether they win or lose, I will cheer for them till the day I die.

When I was a kid, I got teased for being a Packer fan. Yet I remained loyal.
The old saying goes, "You don't love them because they are good, you love them because they are YOURS." That described me perfectly.

My appreciation for the Packers, but more so the NFL as a whole, as slipped over the last decade.

Simply put, when they locked out while both sides were raking in record deals, it screamed to me that it is time to pull back on this buggy. But that was really after the NFL covered up (destroyed the tape allegedly) of the misdeeds of the cheats in New England. Nothing will ever convince me that it was anything but a cover up to try and spare the integrity of the league. Them not publicly releasing the tape to me was the damning evidence. How far or bad they were cheating? Don't care... they were secretly taping practice sessions and walk through, and coaching signals. It really doesn't matter to me how much impact they had.. the NFL should have been transparent. They failed.

And without integrity that the results on the field are not above board, what do you really have?

And then we have the whole slipping slope of cheapening the game with rules aimed at rolling the scoreboard over a 100 more than adhering to the traditions of the game.. yeah, I have become less and less interested.

And we haven't even touched upon the mugging the fan bases around the NFL to keep growing the revenue base that they lust after.

I will ALWAYS be a Packer fan till I die.
But they are wasting a rare chance to win another title before we return to the 70's and 80's .
We have AR, and are wasting his talent by not getting players on offense and defense to put us over the top.
We need a GM that cares more about championships then saving a buck.
What does giving up "the future" of a few seasons to win a super bowl now?
Especially if you arn't going to do anything in the near future anyway, as Rodgers will be gone and you may not have another great QB for MANY years?
He's near the end of his career. And looks like he's already slipping.
It may be too far gone already to turn it around.
Might be very soon that beating the Bears will once again be the high point of our season like it was when I was in my teens.

A sad waste of talent.
