Two extra 4th round picks. Woo-hoo!

That's a pretty big double win. The two drafted guys are pretty solid and young. Tramon was a bit aged and Davon won was handed the freaking lottery by the Jaguars. All around, well played Packers, well played.

Some players taken around these picks ...

Mike Daniels 132nd
Jake Ryan 129th
Davon House 131st
Josh Sitton 135th

The Packers received two compensatory picks, both in the fourth round. They're Nos. 131 and 137 overall, the NFL announced today. The picks are compensation for losing cornerbacks Tramon Williams and Davon House in free agency last year.

5th overall highest compensatory pick for a player we easily replaced. Not bad.

What I have read about the NFL allowing compensatory picks to be traded seems to be conflicting.
On one hand I have read that they will allowed to be traded this spring (which is now) and on the other hand I have read that they will be allowed to be traded in 2017.
If it is this spring, I would wish for the Packers to use these extra picks in a trade package to move up in the draft to fill a position of need.
I believe that if there is a will, at 1265, to win championships, that the Packers are in need of quality over quantity as the Aaron Rodgers years wind down.

wow.

Definitely better than I expected.

I think the best news for Ted though is he now has more opportunity to replace several of these low tier FA's that probably won't get resigned with some quality players in the draft. He does pretty darn good in this part of the draft and to have 6 picks by the end of the 4th you know he's going to find some good players.

This is the beauty of the Ted Thompson approach right here. Of course he has to make something of them and actually draft well, but getting two 4th round picks for players like House and Tramon Williams is awesome. I would like Ted to dabble in free agency a little more, but not at the expense of these type of compensatory selections! Well played, indeed. Now draft another Mike Daniels and Sitton (or even Bacteria)!

To add to Z2C's list, here are all of Ted's 4th rounders, of the three we should get at least one stud and and one decent player. And don't forget there is probably a few guys Ted would have drafted if not for 3 guys leaving with the knowledge of Ted's draft board [Schneider, Dorsey and McKenzie] and snatched away some of those mid-round gems, like Jaye Howard. It is no coincidence that Schneider drafted him and Dorsey scooped him off waivers b4 Ted could. Dorsey was in the war room when Schneider plucked him and to this day no one knows for sure if Ted chortled, "that pencil dick" or "Gronk [with a glazed look on his face];" but Dorsey knew he had to try to get that guy.

I prefer solidifying the lineup prior to the season by all means available, instead of going into the season with holes in the roster.

beast (8-Jan) : Though if they're legitimately trying to re-sign MM, then it makes sense.
beast (8-Jan) : Jerry Jones still hasn't put Jimmy Johnson in the Ring of Honor, but he's in the NFL's Hall of Fame, Jones is petty
Mucky Tundra (8-Jan) : Unless the Cowboys are planning an extension, seems kinda petty

Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Oh so the refs do know what intentional grounding is
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : what the hell was that Goff?! Not much pressure and he just air mails it to Harrison
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : They really need to to get rid of the auto first down for illegal contact
Martha Careful (6-Jan) : watching the Vikings and Lions it's understandable why they swept the Packers. So much better product
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Even when GB got pressure he was throwing darts; vs no pressure on that last pass he just air mails an open guy
