I would love to see the "JONES!!" post back on game day chat after every catch.
However... week one is a win already. The Pack do not need him on the roster next week.
Why not wait until after week one. Make him an in season signing, and then, the team would not be responsible for his salary for the whole season?

Knowing that veterans are guaranteed salary if one roster week one, it made perfect sense to me for the Packers to wait post week one to ink James Jones.
But hold on a second. I've been looking into this and apparently that is a one time thing.
My question is, does the one time mean the player gets his contract guaranteed IF he has been cut/released post week one?
Maybe it doesn't apply to James Jones because he has not been cut post week one, right?
My conclusion is the Packers believe James Jones will play a heavy role in each of the next 19 games and don't foresee one of the youngsters leaping the need to keep James Jones and did not want to risk Jones singing elsewhere (e.g. Minnesota aka Packers cast-off city).
That's what I think.
