One of the few bright spots from Sunday's game was the return of a fully healthy James Jones. I think the Packer offense has missed him this year. Jordy Nelson has partly filled the void, but he doesn't have Jones' versatility, at least not yet. Jones is such a natural athlete--he just glides along. If he can stay healthy next year, our WR group will be much better.

Jones and Nelson could be starters on several teams in the league. Jones already, Nelson most likely next year.

If Jones stays healthy, he'll be somewhat able to replace DD and Nelson will be sick in the slot... he'll see enough action, since we come out in multiple receiver formations quite often.

There's just one thing I don't like that much, DD is an amazing route runner, makes very good cuts and just great adjustments. We're once again gonna lose a veteran player somewhere soon... or he'll go the Rice way ofcourse. Jones is doing pretty good, but is, like the rest of our team, very young and inexperienced aswell.

Donald Driver amazes me because he simply refuses to go down -- yet he doesn't lose the ball while fighting for extra yardage. I hate to see running backs and receivers cough up the ball when they're battling for that extra unnecessary yard or two.

Jordy Nelson is easily my favorite draft pick from the 2008 class. And for everyone criticizing Thompson for taking a WR, it proved to be a fortunate choice, what with James Jones' injury and Ruvell Martin's virtual disappearance. What's happened to Martin anyway? They don't seem to script any plays for him anymore. All the guy does is make catches and score touchdowns.

James Jones will be an awesome receiver if he overcomes a) his propensity for injury and b) his case of the dropsies. He singlehandedly lost us the first Bears game last season.

Great point about Driver, nonstop.

Ruvell Martin was fighting injuries for much of the season and just never got in sync with the offense, it seems. Too bad. He could have contributed much more if he had stayed healthy. Picking a WR first did turn out to be lucky for Thompson.

I've always maintained that those two fumbles by Jones against the Bears last year were both outstanding plays by Charles Tillman, one of them immediately after Jones made the catch. I thought Mike McCarthy made a big mistake by benching Jones for the rest of the game, depriving the team of its #3 receiver. It's a good thing McCarthy didn't bench Ryan Grant after his two early fumbles against Seattle last January.

I hope Ruvell Martin gets enough reps in training camp next year; otherwise, he's almost certain to be cut.

Maybe we'll draft a good receiver to replace Martin...lol that's what Ted Thompson will do.

EDIT

Woah, I typed (T.T.) and it spelled out Ted Thompson...lol

If we can actually get all 4 of these guys on the field healthy next year, look out!

Nelson has been very good as a rookie and really only has the potential to get better. Jennings and Driver are studs and Jones is hopefully going to look to rebound from this injury-riddled season of his next year.
