A bunch of excuses for a bad decision. During that injury plus 6 weeks, it's my understanding anybody can sign him, and undoubtedly we will lose a good player - for what? to keep a piece of crap 9th O Lineman? to keep Nick Perry?

Thomas, Vaughters, Neal, Crockett, and probably others cut and likely not to be kept on the practice squad in order to retain worse players.

Plus the other benefits mentioned.

And the risk is miniscule:

No one drafted him and it only took $3K to get him to sign. GB had a stable of young receivers already Adams, Monty, Janis, Abby and 2 studs under contract for 4 years; he signed here ‘cause he had no other options. One possibility: he had other offers and realized he get good coaching, good mentoring and a legitimate shot to make some tape if he did well in practice. But, if this is why he snubbed other offers to come to GB, then why would he sign elsewhere? Unless he thinks he knows it all, in which case I’m wrong, he’ll never ascend.

Pinkard is a turn off because of ODU dismissal and doesn’t have a single trait that would make other GMs wanna take a look and then accidently discover his only outstanding trait: he’s a football player. There’s hundreds of Pinkards floating around out there, no other GM will even give him a second thought in that 6 weeks.

We won't be paying him what he wanted two years ago. Not to mention, Jordy wasn't out for the season two years ago.

However any moves on Jones remain to be seen.

I applauded not only because of the information on the details of nfl contracts (very informative by the way) and such but also your recognition that this guy is nothing special. I'm guessing every team in the league cut a guy like Pinkard and they will sign them to their PS before an injured player even if he is an ex Packer.

Thornton and Bradford cut and neither played a game. Yikes what a waste of draft picks.
