Of course every single one of us wants elite at every position, but you're not able to pay top dollar at every roster spot on the position. How do you propose the Packers do that with a cap?

No, I disagree...I haven't seen anyone here besides me who wants elite players at every position.

What do you want to happen with Randall, Rollins and I'll throw Gunter in from your post in another thread? Do you really not wish for all 3 of them to prove to be elite CB's, now? In 3 4 or 5 years you can decide which is the elitist of the elite and let the others go. Would happen with good CB's, also, who are seeking the next big contract.

Voltaire. Freaking Voltaire. I wish he was alive to analyze the mindset here. I do think he'd be thinking of his quote...Good is the enemy of great. That is what our fanbase has become. A group of people hailing good and wanting to live there while completing ignoring GREAT and celebrating that fact.

You want ELITES at EVERY position on the field. Maybe, you only win a few SB's with the cast until it has to be blown up but to wish to be good so you never have to face such a situation is just wrong.

No one's saying we don't want our players to be good. The point is, Ted's not gonna mortgage an entire draft to take a "Dez Bryant' type prospect high.

And why should he? He already got the "next Jerry Rice" for a 7th. 👍

I'm not missing the point at all.

So, we wouldn't draft the next Calvin Johnson for fear he might cost us too much 4 or 5 years down the road?

We wouldn't want the next Adrian Peterson because he might be hard to retain?

Yes, that is a recipe for success????? Baffled.

Thank goodness we didn't do that with 12. Unless, our org miscalculated and only thought he would be good and thought he was merely good enough to move on from our HOF QB, we failed in drafting him. You all should be livid Aaron turned out great... now, we can't retain other positions because he's so freaking good.

I'm sure the solution would be to trade or cut him because we don't want this terrible problem hanging over our heads. It's unreal.

I would prefer an Aaron Rodgers + Jordy Nelson combination than Matthew Stafford + Calvin Johnson combination.

Rodgers is going to make your team better than Stafford.

What if you could have Aaron Rodgers and Calvin Johnson

or

Aaron Rodgers and Jordy Nelson????

That is the decision. I'll take Megatron, thank you. I'll leave it to the sentimentalists and the fan capologists to spin why they'd want really want Jordy instead.

Matthew Stafford is NOT an elite QB, he's just paid like one.

...and I'll take one elite guy with 2 or 3 very good guys. What is this thinking that precludes doing better? "GOOD IS THE ENEMY OF GREAT"-Voltaire. That quote is proven here time and time again.

I'll take 3 or 4 elite WR's. Why shoot so low and accept it and wear it like some kind of badge of honor to shoot for less than the best? I simply don't get it.

I'll take Jordy Cobb and Adams. We saw it work with the "big 5." Todays game emphasizes matchups. Many teams have very good 1 and 2 CBs. But no one can cover ALL our guys.

Remember the clinic Davante put on against the Patriots last year?

Even if you can't see the posts, you got the jost, nerdmann.

To respond to ufda, of course we want to draft elite. Were the Packers trying to draft average with Bulaga, Lacy, or trading up for CM3?

I'd love to have a roster full of HoFers just like all of us, but as you said, you end up making tough choices like with Tramon and Davon.

If given the choice between paying QB money to 1 wr, or having more solid wrs, I'd take depth everytime because injuries happen, match ups are key (so depth is important) and ultimately I don't think it's one of the 3 most important positions on the roster.
