As all teams begin off season training, Damarious Randall is already reported injured. Is the conditioning program up to the task.

When "Rockey" changed his training, he became a better Fighter. He began swimming laps in a pool, as a result he strengthened muscles and tendons not normally used. The end result was that he became a better athlete. Do the Packers use more than the weight room and wind sprints.

Yes they have whirlpools and hot-tubs , but is that enough. Swimming can be an eye opener in physical training, do the Packers have a training pool for the players ?

What are your observations and opinions about injuries vs conditioning ?

We'll know more after another season in the new program. Last year was a success. It's football. You're bound to get injuries. Just be thankful it wasn't something more severe like what happened to the Jags' number 3 overall pick! That was so sad to read.

Is Yoga, or Ballet, or Aerobics needed as part of the conditioning puzzle. IMO, swimming is the next level for athletes to train and help prevent injuries. In addition, All linemen in the league should be required to wear knee braces. Also, All QB's should be required to wear Flack Jackets.

Everything they did last year was quite a hit from the players. Talking about the routine, the nutrition and the results. I have to believe with another year under their belt, it should only increase.

We did well last year. Let's hope for continued health of our guys.

I do wonder how much of the injuries are caused by sub-par fields? I wonder if Chicago and Tampa Bay games have more player injuries just because I think the consensus is they play on the worst fields in the league.

I always thought they should do what that guy did at Stanford when they had all those injury problems. That trainer decreased injuries 87% in one season and kept them that low, as Stanford went on to build a powerhouse. But Mike knows best I guess. They seemed to do ok last year.

Every individual player is different and it takes time to know what their body can and can't do, and what it takes for them each to recover most efficiently. I think that may be part of the reason GB seems to have a higher number of injuries yearly, we are always one of the youngest teams in the league. As the players age a little on the team, it seems like they get injured less, at least conditioning injuries.

Yeah there are certain things teams can do I guess that will help with injuries but I still think it's mostly down to luck. Pretty much every team gets a lot of injuries throughout the year but it's more noticed when it's key players. We were lucky that we didn't lose that many key guys last year. Most of the guys we had hurt last year were guys like Abbrederis, Palmer, Jones, Barclay instead of Jordy/Cobb, Clay/Peppers or Bulaga and when we did lose main guys like Raji and Tretter we had good players to replace them (Guion,Linsley)

I guess the OP already forgot last seasons training camp buzz:

Om, Pack, om: Packers stretch their potential with yoga
...Yoga has gained traction in Green Bay. Even Aaron Rodgers has embraced the mat, through a different program....

Yoga can lead to muscle pulls too. The point is that you can't take injuries out of the game. It's not happening. But every little bit helps. Eat well, stay hydrated, and stretch, but don't do anything too much, and definitely don't overdo stretching.
