The ultimate question at-hand is whether the Packers brass should go ahead and offer Hayward a deal based upon potential in order to prevent losing a possible gem?

For all the intuitive reasons, I think it's too early to tell what he's worth, so my knee jerk is to say no, fearing overpaying.

I'd imagine this would be a position the Packers will invest heavily in over the next few months anyway.

This is the kind of contract that I could see being addressed 3-4 weeks into the season. He shows he's healthy and can handle more reps outside then he gets a nice upgrade. Fair deal for both parties.

Can we go back in time and give Davon House the same considerations?

My sentiments exactly. Hayward was excellent his rookie season, but he has that pesky hamstring, and those things tend to keep coming back. Better to wait a year and see if he stays healthy and really does do well as an outside Corner. And I'll second the motion to draft at least one Corner, probably as the highest position of need priority.
