C'mon, if Maxx Williams is there draft his ass!!!

I think this draft has good depth at WR so we can pass on the WRs.
I'm not sure if I'd like to spend a 1st round pick in a DT, they are frequently busts.
I don't like McKinney.

And between Williams and Kendrick I'm not sure who I would pick.

Unnecessary thread, focus on the real needs instead of luxury fantasies . Defense is the #1 priority need, if you can't see that, then you need ease off on the partying and join the rest of the non-zombie Packer Nation .

At least until they shore up NT, ILB or CB a little bit more... I understand they got some potential guys underneath them that could step up... but at minimum don't we need at least another NT before worrying about anything on offense.

But back to subject... TE Rodgers seems to lack speed... but he seems to have about everything else. Maybe not a world setter with quickness and route running but it's good enough and they both could take a jump up now that he knows the system and will have a full off season to get ready for it. And if Rodgers gets better a little better at blocking, I think/wonder if the Packers might use him a lot more in the H-back/FB role as well as TE. Mike McCarthy used to use a lot more H-back stuff than he has lately as he hasn't had the H-back to go with.

I haven't seen Max Williams block that well, and it looks like he's a long strider like Nelson... long striders seem to normally do better on the outside than the quickness on the inside. I think Williams could be a good receiver in the NFL. But I'm thinking the Packers just pick a developmental TE in day 3 (rounds 4 through 7).

I'm sorry but I don't want Ted Thompson drafting defense, defense, defense. That's just plain stupid.

Our GM's track record isn't stellar at drafting D, hence, the cry for defense, defense, defense EVERY FREAKING YEAR. The last thing we need is Ted purposely trying to draft all D. He's not very good when that is not what he's trying to do.

My preference is BPA and not weighted and slanted so ridiculously toward D that we skip good offensive players because we "need" defensive players. Too bad when you don't use FA to fill holes you are forced to panic and draft more for need.

Melvin Gordon is sitting there at the end of Round 1 and there's the 6th or 7th best CB or 3rd best ILB... do you really want to take defense because you think we need D and don't need O? Lacy goes down Week 1 with an ACL and we have some scrub CB or ILB draft pick instead of Melvin Gordon? Take the best player. We need best players not some guy way down the list because he plays a position of perceived need.

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

When drafting in the 30th position of each round - BPA is the only logical drafting strategy.

BPA is all nice in theory but the reality is sooner or later you're going to have some equal grades on guy and going to have to use more than just BPA to decide between them. And if the BPA is a QB in the first round... do you really take the QB with the MVP QB already on the roster?

Also for the record, I wasn't suggesting draft only defense... just that the priorities were mainly defense. If you got a good offensive player option great... but got to make sure they're better than all the defenders left first.

I'm not sure what Dick Rods ceiling is but his hands make him look like a contributor. He was catching everything thrown at him at the end of the season but always had someone attached to his hip. It'll be interesting to see how much he can improve during the offseason.

As far as drafting a TE goes, everything I've read says this years crop is real weak. Might explain why Rodgers and Gilmore (and to a lesser extent Fiederowicz) went a lot earlier than expected last year, teams knew they had to overpay or roll the dice in the Draft and FA this year.

Bonus

How Dick became a nickname for Richard is known and is one of those “knee bone connected to the thigh bone” type progressions, somewhat similar to how the word ‘soccer’ came about. Due to people having to write everything by hand, shortened versions of Richard were common, such as ‘Ric’ or ‘Rich’. This in turn gave rise to nicknames like ‘Richie’, ‘Rick’, and ‘Ricket’, among others. People also used to like to use rhyming names; thus, someone who was nicknamed Rich might further be nicknamed Hitch. Thus, Richard -> Ric -> Rick gave rise to nicknames like Dick and Hick around the early 13th century.

Martha Careful (19h) : thank you Mucky for sticking up for me
Martha Careful (19h) : some of those people are smarter than you zero. However Pete Carroll is not
Mucky Tundra (22h) : Rude!
beast (23h) : Martha? 😋
Zero2Cool (24-Jan) : Raiders hired someone from the elderly home.
dfosterf (24-Jan) : I'm going with a combination of the two.
beast (24-Jan) : Either the Cowboys have no idea what they're doing, or they're targeting their former OC, currently the Eagles OC
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Fake news. Cowboys say no
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.
beast (23-Jan) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you
wpr (22-Jan) : Z, glad you are feeling better.
wpr (22-Jan) : My son and D-I-L work for UM. It's a way to pick on them.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (22-Jan) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
