I'm not finding much interesting Packers articles lately, so I thought instead of posting a good one, I'll post a stupid one and make fun of it's stupidity.

3 Potential Cut Candidates for Green Bay Packers Amid 2025 OTAs

1) WR Mecole Hardman Jr.
2) DE Colby Wooden
3) CB Micah Robinson

https://heavy.com/sports/nfl/green-bay-packers/cut-candidates-mecole-hardman-colby-wooden/

You can follow the link if you want their "reasoning".

1) WR Mecole Hardman Jr.
Stupid, because no duh he's going to be cut... Packers will probably keep 6 WRs at the most (ignoring Watson who'll probably start the season on the PUP) there is 1) Doubs, 2) Reed, 3) Wicks, and two highly drafted rookies in 4) Golden and 5) Williams... and 6th spot is not guaranteed to make the roster.

But even if they hypothetically opened up more room by trading Doubs away, you still got guys whom have made the roster for years in Health and Melton and in the last two seasons, Hardman (on a team that's struggled at WR) has a total of 214 yards over two seasons.

Hardman's only hope seems to be as a return man/gadget player... but coaches seem to suggest that Nixon is willing still, and they also got Reed and Golden.

2) DE Colby Wooden
Stupid because they literally compared him to all the DE edge rushers stats, when he's a DT... of course his stats clearly look different, because he plays a very different position, that traditional gets less stats.

Jist to be clear, I'm their explanation as stupid... if you did make a good list, Wooden's name could possibly be smartly placed on it when compared to the DTs, as Wooden has been struggling and the Packers picked up two rookie Georgia DTs who MIGHT be able to show something... and while DT Stackhouse was an UDFA, he might be the closest thing the Packers have to a NT since they let Slaton leave via FA. Of course, Hafley CLEARLY prefers penetrators over cloggers, and Clark can fill the roll, but most teams like keeping at least one true NT around... if nothing else, for the #1 offense to practice against.

3) CB Micah Robinson
Stupid because their logic seems to be more about how to find a way to bring up the Alexander situation than any meaningful discussion on the CB depth.

Yes, they also mentioned that Robinson is small, and comes from a super small school, before transferring to a small school for his final year... but the kid plays very physical, and the Packers knew all that before drafting him. But again, it seems more about how do we talk about Alexander situation than actually about Robinson.

Actually looking at the Packers depth chart, Packers have been much more likely to keep only 5 CBs in recent years. Assuming Alexander is kept (because this depth looks kinda thin without him) 1) Alexander, 2) Nixon, 3) Hobbs, 4) Valentine and the 5th spot looks like it could be wide open.

Lots of people are penciling in CB King as #5, but I don't think it's that clear cut, as King is mainly quick, he's not fast nor physically against the run, and he was only elevated from the PS once last year, getting zero snaps during the game, not even on STs.

Meanwhile, CB Hadden was elevated twice from the PS and actually got to play 7 ST snaps. And rookies Robinson and Johnathan Baldwin look like they might more potentially versatile to their game.

Players that I believe would have made better to write articles about as potential cut candidates, that would be more of a surprise

WRs: Heath or Melton
They've actually made the Packers roster before and could be gone due to numbers.

OT: Telfort or Glover
Sounds like they'll be working Morgan at both backup OT spots and Belton on both sides side positions, and I haven't heard how they're going to use draft pick College LT Williams, but the backup OTs MIGHT potentially have a lot more competition to make the roster this year.

IOL: Monk
When OL injuries hit, it seemed like Monk was dead last on the OL depth chart, getting in to play OG only after Glover. And at Center it was Myers, Jenkins, Rhyan and THEN Monk. Also Monk is the only OL under 6'4" that Gute has drafted. So while fans think of Monk as the backup Center, he MIGHT be further down that we think.

QB: Clifford
He's #3 spot as developmental QB could be on the line if he hasn't developed more, especially if it looks like QB Elgersma shows more potential.

RB: Pick any RB not named Jacobs
Packers usually keep 3 RBs and behind Jacobs they have Wilson, Brooks and Lloyd... plus some people (not me) are getting excited about the UDFA RBs.

Wilson has been the top pure ball carrier behind Jacobs. But seems like Brooks has taken over as a more versatile role, being able to run it, catch or block. And of course Lloyd was the high draft pick whom hasn't been able to stay healthy yet.

DT: Wooden
As I stated above, Wooden is a good choice, but he's a DT, not a DE.

DE: Cox or Mosby
Sounds like they're planning on either running some new packages or an entire new scheme, which it'll be interesting to see how the DEs styles fit in. There seem to be talk with Oliver especially, as a 3-4 OLB edge rusher type role, which if we're getting multiple guys for that, then Mosby might fit in well, as he's sort of a DE/LB tweener as well.

LB: Hopper, Welch, Simmons
Packers have normally been keeping 5 LBers under Gute, so one of these guys got to go. STs value will probably play a huge role in the decision.

S: Oladapo
He only played 9 games being a healthy scratch for most of them, and in those 9 games, he only played 10+ ST snaps twice. I think he has talent and can hold them off, but he seems to have some quality talent behind him trying to develop too, and if they show they're more versatile, or a lot more useful on STs, he could potentially be gone.

I've going to some of these articles myself. It's amazing how little thought is given in some of them.

Hardman is low hanging fruit.

OT: Telfort or Glover is a good one to discuss. My vote goes to Telfort being released and Glover getting another year or two.
G: John Williamson is going to the PS.
C: Monk probably gets one more season. Having a rookie at the bottom of the depth chart is not unusual especially a late round guy.
TE: Ben Sims would have been an interesting choice for him to make but he didn't. He makes the team and FitzPatrick looks on from afar.
QB: Barring an injury there is no way Clifford makes the 53.
RB: He missed a chance to talk about Wilson vs Johnson vs Brooks. For anyone that is wondering, it's Brooks that makes the team this year.

I'm out of time so we will look at the options on defense later.
