I wonder also. I'd never heard from VD on how he felt about the Packers. That quote here really sounds like he wanted to be here and thought he could've really made a difference but a 6th round pick was just too steep a price in 2017. Oh, and he cost way too much...he wasn't available at the Dollar store.

Broncos (7 - 0) and Packers (6 - 1) at the time of the trade so overall selection probably not a factor in this one like it was with Marshawn Lynch years ago. I wonder if the Packers would have dished out a 6th rounder if Vernon Davis would have agreed to a 2 year contract? Packers do not like renting a player for a year, especially with losing a draft pick. And no one can blame them seeing as they are heavily a draft and (cough) develop team.

I would have given a 6th for him and I said it at the time.

All it would've cost is us taking the Niners 7th and give up our 6th...and then a 6th in 2017. So. we'd have to drop down from 27th in 6th round to draft 7th in Round 7th and a 6th the following season to have a guy who is... A BIG BODY...WHO...CAN...RUN DOWN THE SEAMS. Hmmm. Where have we heard that before? Oh, right, Mike McCarthy said that was the problem with the passing game this year. No big target that can run down the seam. Let's see Vernon Davis is BIG ...AND...can... RUN DOWN THE SEAM. It sounds to me putting two and two together that he was miffed Ted Thompson wouldn't add Vernon Davis but I could have it all wrong...that's just how it sounds.

Another thought, look how average Graham became in Seattle when how he is utilized within an offense changed from how he was used with the Saints.

Seriously, are we still stuck on the whole TE thing? The Super Bowl teams showed once again that the old saying is correct Defense wins championships" Both defenses were awesome and I would have loved to have a defense like that. Hell we could have Zero play quarterback and still make the playoffs with one of those defenses 😝
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I'd love a field stretch Tight end as much as anyone, but there simply doesn't seem to be one of those in this draft nor available in free agency. Some try hard guys but no one I see that could come in right away and immediately upgrade our play (unless we're looking for a pure blocker). Richard Rodgers is much better than he gets credit for, is he going to take the top off a defense? Not often? Is a valuble asset in the redzone? His stats speak for themselves. He reminds me of a more athletic Bubba Franks with less refined blocking.
