We need Cobb.
As was stated, Rodgers is in his prime. The time to win it all, is NOW. There's no more time to waste developing a new WR core.

I think Ted will be willing to overpay to a degree on this because of the situation with the team not needing to fall back now when they are so close.
This isn't in Ted's hands as much as it is in Cobb's. With Ted's history Cobb is in the "keeper" catagory without a question but Ted Thompson is not going to just bend over and pay whatever either and he shouldn't.
I'm hopeful he stays a Packer. Oakland scares me a little because they are known to throw money out there. If that happens though it blows the "Cobb is disgusted with the Packers" theory. Going to the bone yard of the NFL. A theory I'm not buying. This is money time and that's what this is all about now because the odds of going to a team with a better chance to not screw up the last 5 minutes and go to the SB are not very good.

Why not tag him ? 1 more year for Janis and Deris to develop and Adams should only get better. Draft a WR this year and bring him along like Adams.

IMO we still very much need cobb - our other receivers are not ready to handle the pressure and load of being a #2.

The problem with that is, Cobb is a known. They know how good he is. The other guys they have have "potential", but also have the "potential" to blow up in their faces.
The Packers are so close to the top of the NFL, that building up is what they need to be doing, not tearing down what good they already have.

Pats let Welker go and signed Edelman. There is nothing preventing us from financially setting ourselves a budget that we are willing to spend up to for that WR position.

There are a lot WRs available in FA so we should not have to bend over to anyone's demands unless we think that only Randall can get us back to the Superbowl. I don't think that is true.
