Tackling in the NFL is a complete joke, for the most part. In my opinion, it comes from a few things...
- The constant rule changes to make the game safe. This leads to guys hesitating on tackles because they don't want to be penalized and even further, possibly fined.
- Possible lack of past coaching on form tackling. A stretch, maybe, but if you are playing defense in the NFL you think you'd have some idea on how to attempt a form tackle. Watching some of these guys tackle is funny to watch.
I think the Packers have a whole other issue aside from the tackling problem. It is having more than one guy near the ball carrier. Too many times, a guy is breaking a terrible, weak tackle or trucking one of our guys and there isn't another guy within 5 yards to clean up the mess. This relates to the other new post in here about Pete Carroll getting on his players poor tackling. Sure, they missed tackles...but they have 1, 2, 3 and sometimes 4 other guys there to clean it up and make the tackle.
