At this point the personnel grouping is what it is, while the schemes and play-calling of Dom Capers have rarely been an issue for me. In 2015, the Green Bay Packers’ defense will step forward only when the most basic fundamental of football is cleaned up. I’m talking about tackling.
Part of this is that Capers is no longer defending the run, because they want to bait other teams into running the ball. They believe the rules changes favor the passing game so much, that running the ball even successfully will not result in wins.
It'd be nice to at least have a short yardage defense though.
Part of it was also just Hawk getting too damn old and Brad Jones seemingly taking money from mafia people to consistently commit back breaking penalties in crucial situations. Both of these issues have been resolved.
Barrington looks quite solid, and Ryan, Palmer and all those other guys look solid. I think we'll have guys step up and be able to get it done. More worried about the Dline, especially using Datone as a run stopper.
