I'm not sure what all the confusion is about...3 year deals are the standard.

http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/new-england-patriots/post/_/id/4743149/closer-look-at-rookie-free-agent-deals

The collective bargaining agreement dictates that all contracts signed by rookie free-agents are three years in length with a minimum value of $1.44 million over the life of the contract. But not all rookie free agent contracts are exactly the same, as teams can guarantee differing amounts of money to each player upon signing them.

If you draft the guy you give 4 year deals, unless they're 1st rounders, they get 5 year deals. That is why Minnesota moved back into Round 1. They wanted to have the 5th year option on a rookie QB. If they had traded up to pick 1 in Round 2, they would've been forced to sign Bridgewater to a 4 year deal.

Here's a blurb on Lyerla's talent level, as if we haven't heard enough...

From allmediany.com (this was a piece on Rodgers, but it turned toward Lyerla)

2014 Outlook & Beyond: The raw, but promising Rodgers may not have to set the world on fire during training camp, but he will need to show something in order to earn a roster spot. The presence of Lyerla may create problems for Rodgers in that the troubled, but gifted weapon is the more athletic player with greater upside. The former Oregon Duck’s hands and ability to quickly adjust to passes at full speed make him a special talent. If not for his well-chronicled off-field issues, Lyerla would have been worthy of a first-round pick. Rodgers could be destined for the practice squad.

Getting a shot at possibly the best TE coming out of college this year in exchange for a PR hit seems like a good deal to me.

Looking at coaches tape, I wouldn't have known that Cobb ran the wrong route. No tape would've shown me that.

I can watch a player on TV and see explosion, strength, escapability, great hands, body control...etc.

Yup, can't tell, period, if a guy is good or bad from watching TV? What? Clay Matthews looks like a player on TV. Since I haven't seen the coaches tape, I might be wrong? Do you reread your posts when you're done?

You can't see why they are good on a broadcast.

For example, Cobbs first TD reception.

Cobb blew the play and ran the wrong route.

Looks good to you. But it was a big mistake.

Since you don't know what the assignments are, what the correct read is, or what the rest of the players are doing, you can't tell from the broadcast if it is a good play or a lucky one.

The comment about Rodgers looks good on a TV Broadcast is not relevant. Because you can't see the details that actually make him that good. You see the results and assume it was his genius. But you couldn't tell us what the D allignment was, what his adjustment was, what his read was or even if he threw the ball to the right guy.

The coaches looking at the all 22 tape can see that.

Just because you can see Rodgers looks good on TV, doesn't mean you know why.

You would think a smart guy like Ted Thompson would have figured out after 40 years of being in the business(player and front office)that all the team needs to do on gameday is record the TV feed and ...Bam.. they have all the film they need to break down the games.

Stupid Ted Thompson, get with the program!!!!

I'm not sure how this morphed into simply talking about TV broadcasts. Your winger brought up the Cobb play vs. New Orleans stating that it looked good on TV but it really wasn't. He's basically trying to point out that what you see on TV is the opposite of reality, which it most times isn't. Nobody on the TV feed said anything about a wrong route and had Cobb not told you nobody here would've ever been the wiser. However, all of us could see the explosion, the extra gear he showed on that play. Magic. To try and make a point you want to minimize the truth. Cobb is a player whether looking at him live, on all 22, or TV broadcast.

I can see Aaron Rodgers release, movement, accuracy, him looking off defenders going through reads all from the TV feed. Nope, I don't know the actual play call, but all 22 doesn't show you that either, so unless you know the play call and it's design no tape is going to help. Basically, NOBODY from even another team can know if someone is good or not by watching tape. Lunacy.

Yes, sometimes you won't have a clue who was supposed to do what by watching tape especially in the secondary. Even the 22 tape isn't going to tell you what Burnett's responsibility was vs. the CB and MD's.

Everyone of these guys that get this far are super talented, but there's a reason some make it to the NFL and succeed and some don't.

There's more to the game than just talent, I'm guessing that's what all the cameras are for.

Waiting for your last word, becasue as you have proven, you must get it in.
