Thanks for the backing wpr, and no issue with me z2c, even if it was a bash on me, which it wasn't...not concerned about it.

Nick Perry was the 49th rated prospect on Mayock's Top 100

Each NFL team each rates players differently as to how they think that player will fit their team. Those outside the NFL just rate players by how good they think they are overall (disregarding individual team scheme fits) or by when they think teams will draft them. There were multiple discussions in 2012 about the Packers drafting Nick Perry so it wasn't some out of left field pick like you seemed to be implying. I guess you just weren't following the draft that closely that year or something.

The spin off sites are in it to make money too, and to carve out their own piece of the pie, from fans who consume what they have to say like they had never eaten before.

Fans get married to their ways of thinking how the draft should fall, and where their favorites place in the 7 round order. Based on very little info. I mean, it really is quite ridiculous. Fun? Of course. But fans are just that, fans, and they wish to speculate on who their teams will pick to make their team better.

The personnel staffs take all different kinds of info into making these decisions. Things many of us simply do not consider specific to the team they are building, with far more info. I liked that they had an emphasis on sure handedness in their selections of WRs. I like that they went after a guy, who in those tight personnel circles was moving quickly up many boards, like Thornton, who has what appears to be a non-stop motor, has great size and speed, and can play all the DL positions. I thought, after the fact, after learning of the "why's" of the pick, that it was a brilliant move in R3. There is risk involved that it won't work, but the consensus in the Packers war room appears to have been a solid "yes" for Khyri Thornton.

TEs fell off the board with their next pick, but there Richard Rodgers was, on their board, and they stuck to it and made the pick. I cannot argue with that, as much as I disliked it at the time, as a fan. I guess, being a fan, I read up on their logic behind making the selection, and I support it after hearing about the player and what they had to say. I'm not going to say I know better, because I really, really don't. Can't possibly with the garbage, sensational, pedestrian info we get.

I was following it very closely that year. I actually wanted Nick Perry (was one of the rare times I got a guy I was hopeful of getting...only happens once in a while) but knew he was going to be a conversion guy. A tweener. His ability to cover came up several times just like it did when Kampman got moved to OLB. Still, I loved what I saw of Perry. I was hopeful he was more than athletic enough to convert. I'm probably more excited about him now than I was then due to them moving him to elephant. So, no, I didn't think Perry was out of left field. He was a guy who was not a consensus pick at our spot though... then need comes into it. Everyone knew we needed to add something opposite Clay after getting destroyed on D in 2011.

Now, I wonder if DeAndre Hopkins, taken right after Perry wouldn't have been a better pick. Hindsight makes that oh so easy.

Never said a word about consensus pertaining to Hopkins only that in hindsight he may have been a better pick. I like that guy.

.05 isn't a half a second.

LOL @ 5 hundredths of a second being the difference for you between somebody being a good 1st round pick and not even being a good (but a bad) 2nd round pick. You don't realize how ridiculous that sounds?
