I thought it would be ok to share something good that happened to me today... people share all kinds of things on these forums, negative and positive and I thought I'd join the party.
So a while back me and my co-workers at Nokian Renkaat were told they were going to do performance reviews on each of us to evaluate our importance to the company. Now at that point we all thought we we're screwed and they'd be cutting our team back.
Little did we know, they had actually done this longer than we thought. And unlike usually in these kinds of situations, the evaluators actually did their jobs thoroughly.
So today, I was told my boss was retiring and that was a part of the review along with cutbacks. So they told me that since I my work was the most exemplary from our team of finance-men, they are going to give me a promotion and a hefty pay raise. They also had to cut two memebers of the team, but they were kind of lazy anyway, I had to pick up their slack more than once. And they'll get new jobs soon anyway, 5+ years at Nokian Renkaat working finances is a pretty unique thing to your resume.
So anyways, I'm not happy because of the money. Between my girlfriend's and my salaries we get more than enough to get by well and pay the bills. I'm happy because my work is appreciated, and my hard work is recognized. Also I thought I was getting the boot and this whole thing came out of left field.
Just decided to share something positive.
