I would make the argument that the Packers are currently a dynasty. 5 straight years in the playoffs, including a Super Bowl Championship. Best record in the league in 2011. MVP still in his prime.

In today's salary capped league, that's about as good as you can hope for a dynasty. Another year in playoffs and another Super Bowl (2015!) and it's not even arguable. In my opinion.

Making the playoffs however many years is all well and good, but the only measure of "dynasty" is SB wins IMO. Anything less than winning the whole enchilada just doesn't fit the equation.

The Packers were a dynasty. The Steelers were. The 49ers were. The Cowboys were. The Patriots were. The Packers could have been and should have been again in the Holmgren years, extending to the Sherman years. Never happened though. The Steelers came close to having another dynasty, but they won just the two with Roethlesburger. That's my line of thinking on dynasties. Giants almost got there and still might. Seattle looks primed for a dynasty run if they play their cards right.

If you quit 'sighing' and actually read, I believe I said that Seattle had the #26 pass OFFENSE. Since a phase of their game was bad, obviously they are not a good team and will be returning the Trophy.

News Flash- The NFL announced that they will no longer be seeding the playoffs based on record. They will instead pick the most balanced teams and include them in the playoffs, without regard for whether the teams actually won any games. Roger Goodell said " Obviously, by using actual wins and losses, great, blanced teams such as the Cowboys continually fail to reach the playoffs, while 1 dimensional teams such as Green Bay and Denver, do. In an effort to level the playing field, we will do away with records and focus on what teams feel best about themselves."

The 49ers had the #24 ranked total offense this year. Guess they weren't a good team at all.

You and I must have a different definition of balanced. The cowboys are not a balanced team. They had a terrible defense.

2011 Packers

Offense: 2.85 points per possession good for 2nd in the league
Defense: 1.89 points per possession good for 23rd in the league.

2010 Packers

Offense:1.97 ranked 8th in the league
Defense: 1.24 ranked 2nd in the league

2013 Seahawks

Offense:2.12 ranked 7th
Defense: 1.17 ranked 1st

Not to mention that Steelers team the Packers played in the Super bowl in the 2010 had identical stats as the 2010 Packers.

My comment was meant as a criticism of the NFL making decisions to benefit the big market teams. It was not serious. Even the NFL respects the value of actually winning games.

For the final time: I am not arguing that the 2010 team was not good. I am saying that the 2011 team was better. Because they actually won games instead of posting stats. Ok. Their defense was not as good. But they won games. That is all that matters. Go to Vegas. They don't refund your bet if your team loses but it's stats are good. Wins matter.

2010 was reeling early in the year with injuries. Then they stabilized and started winning. It's infectious and they got on a roll. So if you ignore the first 2 months of the season, they were a great team. But you can't choose to ignore half the season.

Sentimentally, the 2010 season was great. It was probably my favorite. That team overcame a lot and their late season run was amazing. But you can't lose 6 games and be a great team.

I'm done.

We got hurt by injuries and other forms of bad luck, and we have a GM who has not done what it takes to make the team even better, but we have the greatest QB possibly in NFL history - following a decade and a half of having arguably the greatest in history until Rodgers came along. That alone is dynastic. If we had just added a little bit more - which was well within the team's financial ability to do, we coulda/woulda/shoulda won a lot more SBs.

Dynasties don't merely make the playoffs. They contend for titles for multiple years. They win substantially more playoff games than they lose.

One-and-done is the sign of a reasonably good team. It is not the sign of a dynasty.

The current Packers team doesn't qualify. And merely making the playoffs for one game next year wont make them a dynasty either.

Zero2Cool (8h) : Fake news. Cowboys say no
Zero2Cool (9h) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.
beast (23h) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (23h) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you
wpr (22-Jan) : Z, glad you are feeling better.
wpr (22-Jan) : My son and D-I-L work for UM. It's a way to pick on them.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (22-Jan) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ohhhhhhh Zero is in TROUBLE
packerfanoutwest (21-Jan) : Zero, per your orders, check Bearshome, not packershome
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Then he'll land with another team and flourish.
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Ben going to Bears. He'll be out in 3 years.
