I've sort of developed a new philosophy, inspired by what Bill Belichick does.

As long as you have a marquee QB, which we do, then just give him the basic blocks. He has a great RB in Eddie Lacy. And then he needs an offensive line that'll keep him upright.

And then the defense? Fill it with stars. Clay Matthews is one. The defensive line has promise. The safeties need a lot of work.

This is where I'll get heat... who cares about who the WRs are. If Rodgers is half as good as we make him out to be, his wide receivers don't matter. It's the same case with Tom Brady. He's been going to Super Bowls with a bunch of nobodies for years. Rodgers should be making everybody around him better. His numbers won't be as pretty, but with an elite defense they should be able to pick up the slack.

At least that's how I look at it.

Fuck the Seattle Seahawks.

Any D can look good, once you're stealing the QBs signals.

Sigh. QC the last time I checked there were 3 parts to a team. Offense, defense and special teams.

A team can be 15-1 and that is due almost exclusively to the efforts of their offense. The Bears in 2006 made it to the SB based on their defense and ST. They won some games without the offense even getting a TD.

The 2011 Packers defense was subpar. It takes more than just one area (you mentioned Seattle's pass defense) to make the whole unit poor. GB was poor across the board.

Seattle has the #1 defense in fewest yards allowed.
They led the league in interceptions.
They had 39 turnovers which at a glance looks like they led the league in that category too.
They were #7 in rush defense.

AND

I have no idea where you got your numbers but they were #1 in pass defense. They gave up a mere 172  yards per game. Next closest was NO ate 194 yards a game.

News Flash- The NFL announced that they will no longer be seeding the playoffs based on record. They will instead pick the most balanced teams and include them in the playoffs, without regard for whether the teams actually won any games. Roger Goodell said " Obviously, by using actual wins and losses, great, blanced teams such as the Cowboys continually fail to reach the playoffs, while 1 dimensional teams such as Green Bay and Denver, do. In an effort to level the playing field, we will do away with records and focus on what teams feel best about themselves."

The 49ers had the #24 ranked total offense this year. Guess they weren't a good team at all.

If they cracked Manning's hand signals code through diligent film study, more power to them.

Definitely. With the way things are now its almost impossible to form a dynasty.

In today's salary capped league, that's about as good as you can hope for a dynasty. Another year in playoffs and another Super Bowl (2015!) and it's not even arguable. In my opinion.
