Most of us want a top ten defense.

What adjustments should he have made? He has played, pretty much every player he has available in different combinations. I don't know what else schematically he could do.

I could see saying he needs to be replaced because the players are not responding to him anymore possibly.

Probably not the same position all the time but they know each other's responsibilities. If the DE doesn't know where the LB behind him is lined up and where his area of responsibility on a specific coverage he should not be in the NFL. Same for the CB and S. They know where each other are going to be. So even if Lattimore hasn't been a OLB his whole life he knows what the OLB is suppose to do.

In week 17 of the season after OTAs and TC and preseason it falls to the coaching staff to make sure everyone is doing their job. Since Greene is the OLB coach he is first. But Capers is accountable too.

yards mean your offense can't score.

I want a defense that gives up 200 yards a game. Try and score from your own side of the 50.

BTW GB was 25 in total yards allowed and 24th in points allowed. They correlate.

Just did a quick look. The top 5 teams on defense points also were the top 5 teams in defense yards.
Seattle, Carolina, Cincinnati and SF.

The top 5 in points given up, 3 also gave up the most yards.

Minn, Chicago and Jacksonville.

Washington and Oakland gave up the points but did so with fewer yards allowed. Both were still bottom half teams in yards.
edit- I forgot to included New Orleans. top 5

I want the Packers to have a top rated D as much as anybody. We just haven't seen it thus far, but if we are going to see them play to that level, I'd rather we see it in the playoffs!

I wouldn't be upset if he gets fired, and I also wouldn't be upset if he is retained. If we say the players are not playing for him anymore like they did in 09' 10'. Than fine find somebody who they will play for (not sure who). But other than that, I don't know what else Capers should have don't or not done this year.

I probably won't ever vote again as it just doesn't matter.

As for more playing time for Lattimore- I wasn't begging for it. I have not been enthralled with his play up to now.

Of course it's not ENTIRELY Capers fault, nor is it entirely Ted Thompson's fault. It's a combination of everything. But from my perspective, Capers has still done a pretty bad job, often when it matters most. I also think he SHOULD have been getting more out of the talent he has. This season has been pretty rough with injuries yet again, but it's not a new thing. Capers has had enough talent to at least maintain an average defense, especially with the Packers offense in recent years. I just think it's time for a fresh start to give someone else a chance. These things happen. The Packers defense isn't going to become the Seahawks or 49'ers in terms of talent in the next year or so, so they need a coach that can maximize the production out of the talent available. It's worth the risk to try to find that coach, imo. Even if the coach isn't that great, I can't imagine him being much worse than Capers, so I don't see much harm in attempting to find a better coach.
