How would a broken collar bone end his career?

He has to be able to take a hit. I'm just saying they need to err on the side of risk.

I understand that's a very pessimistic view, but I suppose I'm just a super bowl or bust kind of guy. Plus, I think the Packers could benefit from the higher draft picks along with the guys returning healthy. Moreover, I'm worried if some units like the defense start playing JUST good enough for a few games, it might save some coaches jobs (like Dom Capers), which would be a bad thing. Sometimes I want things to just get REALLY bad, because it's probably the only way any true changes will be made in this franchise.

He was asked on his radio show a couple weeks back if he would still play if the Packers have no chance for the playoffs. He said yes and it wouldn't be like him to sit out just because of that. I highly doubt he's gonna miss the rest of the year, even if it's even one or two games.

I know it's not going to happen, and it's probably best it doesn't. But the futility of this season and the draft spots the Packers are likely to lose aren't very enticing to me. Even if the Packers turn things around, I don't see them winning the Super Bowl this season. They'd be lucky to win a game in the playoffs. The Saints, Seahawks, 49'ers, Lions, and the Panthers are simply better teams this season, and that's just in the NFC.

I say Rodgers is done for the year why risk him that could end his career? The biggest thing on this article is why the fuck do they get Friday Saturday and Sunday off? Hell they already took off Thursday, after a game like that the coaches should be pissed off and make the bastards practice even more.

If I had to choose a moment though between winning one game right now with Rodgers, and actually making it to the playoffs. I'd be happier having won a game with him. Because we have not won a game in 5 weeks. I hope it doesn't come down to IRing him. That would be depressing even though it seems to be the best thing for his health.

Sometimes, it's just not a teams year, and they need some serious retooling. I don't think it would take much to get this team over the top, but it needs what it needs badly. Drafting in the mid 20's with no trade ups or holes filled via free agency just isn't likely to do that, imo.

I know this week hurt, and hell, the whole month has really, but I don't think this is a franchise that needs major changes made.

I honestly believe that if we were as healthy as the Lions are, we'd be 9-3 right now, 2 games up on Detroit and feeling pretty good about ourselves and our chances. I think our problems may fix themselves with time, making a coaching or personnel overhaul unnecessary.

While at this point I don't they're in a hurry to bring back Rodgers, I can't see him sitting out the rest of the year. I think he'll play at least the final two games.

I don't think the Packers need a whole lot at all. However, they do need what they need badly. Without substantial improvement in a few week areas (coaching, offensive line, line backers, safety), this team is highly unlikely to win more than one game in the playoffs. That might be good enough for many, but with a player like Aaron Rodgers, that's just not good enough for me. I want more, and think it's completely reasonable so long as a few weaknesses are addressed.

Moreover, the Packers ARE a bad football team right now. It doesn't really matter what they have done in previous seasons. The Super Bowl is a distant memory. All they have done in recent seasons is do decent to well in the regular season and then get humiliated in the playoffs. That's not a "great" football team to me, and I certainly don't think the problems are just going to "fix themselves in time" if they maintain the status quo. The past few seasons don't offer any evidence of that, as things have only gotten a little worse.

I don't consider changing defensive coordinators and adding some more top talent as a major overhaul. I just consider it as addressing weaknesses of a football team. Perhaps we just view things differently, though.

Of course the Packers would be better if they were more healthy. The reality is, they are not healthy, and they usually aren't. There's no reason to believe they will be "healthy" next season, or the season after. Therefore, improvements need to be made to still be a a really good football team even with several key injuries. It's certainly not easy, and could be close to impossible, but they have to find a way. Staying healthy is mostly just a matter of luck, it would seem, so hopefully their luck changes soon, but I wouldn't count on it. I have no idea what changes could be made in the conditioning program that would actually change much. Perhaps slight improvements could be made.
