Greene's been an assistant for what, 4 years? lol

There are teams with personnel that arent really anything special but their defenses are a lot better

And also maybe their personnel is a little better than you assume it is. We are all outsiders so we really don't know. Our hope is that what has happened this year is correctly evaluation in the off-season and the right change comes from that. I expect coaching turnover though, but it comes at a price.

I'd actually rather go with Mike Singletary. I think Kevin Greene is pretty decent at his current job, but you don't promote the C student to a manager position. There's a higher level of thinking involved in the DC position. And I would take for granted our tackling would get better.

What is the fascination some have with Greene? He seems like nothing more than a WWE loud mouth clown - ok for firing up players on the sidelines, but not equipped for any planning or scheming of a defense. Maybe THAT is why no other team has grabbed him.

I say again, the Packers would be stupid to keep Capers' system and get rid of Capers. And with the weak personnel the Packers have, we simply CAN'T play straight up normal defense. We NEED some kind of scheming/finessing/trickery/outguessing in order to stop anybody.

Well, seeing how the past 4 games teams have mopped the floor with our D maybe we need a guy who can get these guys fired up and willing to hit people and make plays. I'll take the rah rah rah guys on D over guys like Capers who have the energy level of an old man playing checkers.

Both our personnel and our coaching are being outclassed on a regular basis.

We are clearly not as well off personnel-wise as some of us may have thought. Our wins v. Redskins, Lions, Ravens, Browns and Vikings gave us a good standing statistically going into the Bears game, but our defense was well handled by the offenses of SF and CIN. Since that time we have literally tanked on D.

If defense wins championships, we are not in the race at all and we should be bowing out of this season. We should be looking to save Aaron Rodgers from further injury instead of rushing his return to the lineup. Reload and retool next season. Get a new defensive coaching staff in place, and give them to players they really need… and, Mike McCarthy runs this staff. He should be having his feet held to the fire for letting this get so out of control, which is exactly what it is. Out of control.

This is clearly a bad team, save for a handful of players, masked by the extraordinary talents of Aaron Rodgers. If anything, Rodgers' injury is giving us a clear read on our weaknesses, and they look pretty severe. Both coaching and personnel.

What is hard for me to understand is how the run D could be very good and then become so horrendous.

How does that happen? It's like a light switch went off. They were giving up nothing on the ground and now can't stop anybody.

At least when we had Rodgers, Finley, and Cobb on offense and a stout run D there was hope where now there is none to be found.

I understand no Arod no offense but the run D completely disintegrating is just crazy.

Aaron Rodgers getting hurt is the best thing that happened to this team because now we know what we really have.

Imaging what the Saints would do to this team in the Superdome right now.

Pickett is wearing down. It is sad to see but there can be little other explanations and others claim to be seeing first hand in the press. He is a prideful man and has played incredibly well for this team for a long time. But the tread in the tires wears thin for him now and he is apparently playing injured.

Jolly is also playing injured and proving to be just as ineffective and I think he knows it. You can tell by his body language. He probably just didn't have the physical ability to play the whole season. He was playing well in the beginning and has gotten worse since. Again, this is sad to see but all too real.

Then you have backers. They have been exposed and the best guys probably at this point to fill in the gaps are either injured and can't play or are on IR, so it is unfortunately going to be a situation like the DL where we just have to finish the season with the guys we got...
