DT is the interior defensive linemen in a 4 - 3 scheme : defensive tackle
NT is the interior defensive lineman in a 3 - 4 scheme : nose tackle

That being true then Mike Daniels would be a NT, not DT right now. Unless when I was corrected on this, that was wrong.

I thought he was playing DE in our scheme, regardless, which would translate to DT, most likely UT, in a 4-3 scheme. Maybe DE if you have freakish athletic ability like Jenkins had.

Mike Daniels plays inside in our Nickle formations. I haven't seen him line up as a base end or NT that's why I called him a DT.

Aaron Kampman was a Defensive End. Which DE is in both 4 - 3 and 3 - 4 schemes. However, DT and NT are not. Go figure!!

DE - DT - DT - DE

DE - NT - DE

I said 'interior' followed with defensive lineman to avoid the ambiguity of 'interior linemen' of both defensive and offensive lines. I was specifying the interior OF the defensive line, not the defensive 11.

For what it's worth, Pro Football Focus lumps both DT and NT together with their stats.

He plays DT right now. What are you talking about "he's a pass rusher". Suh, Fairley, Casey, Melton, Atkins, McCoy, Hatcher are all DTs. I'm not quite sure where you are even going with that. Maybe you thought I was saying NT.

Could Neal and Jones possibly be moved to a 4-3 end yeah do they have any experience in their life rushing the edge against OTs? Jones doesn't and Neals only experience has been this year and he hasn't been particularly great at it. Neither has done it with their hand in the dirt.

Packers.com lists Daniels as a DE.

That's how I view Nick Perry, Mike Neal, probably Clay Matthew (although you could easily line him up at LB too) and Datone Jones.

Perry didn't even want to be drafted by a 3-4 team, he wanted to be a 4-3 DE. Iirc Datone held off on bulking up before the draft, because he wasn't sure what kind of team was going to draft him.

As for Daniels, you could line him up inside, but he's only 300 lbs, not 340 like a real NT or DT. He's not gonna necessarily stuff the run up the middle. He has shown however, that he can get to the QB.

Have you ever watched a Packers game? They may have him listed like that but I've never once seen him line up as a base DE. He lines up next to another "DT" inside of 2 edge rushers. That's a DT. If I'm wrong then by all means tell me how many times Daniels has actually played DE in a game this year.
